Following a feel-good merengue summer, 2x Latin GRAMMY winning singer-songwriter Sebastián Yatra (@SebastianYatra) returns with a new single, “Energía Bacana,” a song all about love. Yatra dedicates the track to the people who “brighten up your life, who lift you up, who bring you peace, who give you good vibes” – listen here! + read the lyrics: [in English & Spanish]!
The track arrives alongside an official music video that showcases Yatra stepping behind the camera as the video director documenting the love of Spanish celebrity Georgina Rodríguez, who enjoyed the song so much she turned it into her own. Yatra envisioned the song showcasing “a couple that we all love and who embodies that awesome energy”. The “Energía Bacana” artwork was painted by Leonardo Rodriguez Pastrana Caldarola, a 10 year-old painter from Spain. This continues the trend of Yatra’s latest single artwork being created by global artists including Colombian street-artist Nats Garu’s work on “VAGABUNDO” and Spain’s Marta de la Fuente for “Una Noche Sin Pensar.”
The release of “Energía Bacana” follows his successful smash this year, “VAGABUNDO” with fellow Colombian collaborators Manuel Turizo and Beéle. Famed media personality Gayle King presented the multi-talented artist with an RIAA certified Latin Platinum® plaque for the hit, which boasts 279 million global streams to date – (watch here)! It’s 3x Platinum® in Spain and holds multiple Gold® certifications across Latin America. This summer, Sebastián has performed sing-alongs to the catchy “VAGABUNDO” “na-na-na-na-na” melody to hundreds of thousands of fans at sold-out international festival crowds. The track led to an A-list friendship between Yatra and the current world #1 tennis player Carlos Alcaraz who told press that “VAGABUNDO” is his favorite song. The duo participated in the US Open’s “Stars Of The Open” exhibition charity match benefiting Ukraine relief efforts (check out here). It wasn’t an easy competition; good thing Rafael Nadal trained him for the special night (watch here).
