Sun 10 December – RiverstageThis follows the announcement of Dermot’s third and final Sydney show at the iconic Opera House Forecourt after the first two quickly sold out. This was further accompanied by the exciting news that he’ll be presenting the Telstra ARIA Music Teacher Award at the 2023 Australian Recording Industry Association Awards.
First up is rising Melbourne artist Mia Wray, who is as powerful behind the pen as she is behind the mic, with a huge voice and lots to say. With widespread support from triple j, BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Apple and one Elton John, who plugged her debut single ‘Work For Me’ on his Beats 1, Mia has gone on to become one of Australia’s most acclaimed emerging artists. At the start of 2023, she delivered a joyous rendition of MUNA’s ‘Silk Chiffon’ on triple j’s Like A Version. More recently, Mia embarked on her first national headline tour, joined Maisie Peters on her sold-out European run of dates, played sets at Sydney’s SXSW and celebrated the release of her latest singles ‘Delete’ and ‘Tell Her’. Catch Mia Wray in action as she joins Dermot Kennedy on his Melbourne leg of The Sonder Tour.
Sydney’s emotive indie trio, Middle Kids, renowned for their introspective and uplifting sound, are set to join Dermot Kennedy on the first night of his Sydney shows. They first gained attention in 2017 with their debut single, ‘Edge Of Town’, and their debut album, Lost Friends, which won triple j’s Best Australian Album Award in 2018. The success of this album catapulted the band to international stardom, leading them to rack up an impressive host of support slots for the likes of Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, War on Drugs and Cold War Kids, and performances at renowned festivals such as The Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Osheaga Festival and many more. This was followed by the release of Today We’re The Greatest, which earned them a Best Rock Album award at the 2021 ARIAs. Despite its release during the peak of the pandemic, this saw them perform on popular US TV shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Middle Kids’ forthcoming album Faith Crisis Pt 1 explores the question of belief; the breaking of it, and how it is rebuilt over 13 propulsive, ecstatic and gorgeous tracks. Catch Middle Kids as they tease Sydneysiders with a preview of their latest album when they open for Dermot Kennedy this December.
Vallis Alps, the electro-pop duo comprising Parissa Tosif and David Ansari, charms audiences with their blend of synth-pop, downtempo and hip-hop influences into a wistful yet distinctive sound. With success right off the bat, the duo’s 2015 debut single ‘Young’, came in at No. 27 on triple j’s Hottest 100, culminating in their self-titled debut EP which has since been certified Gold with the ARIA’s. Their 2017 follow-up EP Fable, standalone singles ‘So Settled’ and ‘Oceans’ and remixes for Troye Sivan and Matt Maeson, drew international praise and have since led to a sold out 40-date tour across the world and gained them slots at renowned festivals such as SXSW, Reading and Leads Festival, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Groovin’ the Moo, Spilt Milk, Listen Out and more. After a five-year break, the pair returned to release their debut album, Cleave, to all-embracing support by triple j, NME and more including, described as “breathy, airy and uplifting” by RUSSH Magazine, “pulsing electro-house” by Music Feeds, and as “bigger than anything the duo has ever done in the past and it really suits” by The Music. With over half a billion global streams and widespread critical acclaim, Vallis Alps’ unique sound will open up stages across two nights in Sydney and one in Brisbane.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
