His influences make him dangerously cool and impossibly contemporary. Born Josiah Wise, the once Maryland choirboy, who now operates under the alias serpentwithfeet trained as a jazz vocalist, performed in a neo-soul group, went through a goth phase and at one point even considered a career as an opera singer – experiences that led him now to write and create some of the most astonishing balladry heard in modern times.
Following his sensual debut on an EP titled “blisters” in 2016, the Avant-Garde/R&B singer fuses the devotional beauty of gospel with self-deprecation and despair, while at the same time avoiding any sort of genre classification. His 2018 release “soil”, which rated 8.1/10 on Pitchfork, features Wise’s ecstatic voice delivering direct emotion on tightly written pop songs that examine his most personal fears, fixations, queer insecurities and longings. In a review on “soil” by Resident Advisor they explained,
“serpentwithfeet is not a project that deals in restraint, but it’s the mix of melodrama and newfound control.”
The Australian tour dates follow his appearance at Coachella 2019, the first opportunity for Southern fans to experience serpentwithfeet’s modern take on soul and R&B – an experimental new taste of the genre that’s not to be missed.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
