As part of Melbourne Music Week’s Self-Made Series, local artists and curators Carla Zimbler, Zoltan Fesco and Matt Sheers have teamed up to create an immersive audio-visual experience titled ‘A Nice Warm Bath’, submerging the Norla Dome at Mission to Seafarers (Docklands) in saturated colour.
Light, scent and projection will ebb and flow inside this sensory space to the soundtrack of Sydney based producer Anatole, multidisciplinary sound/art composer Sara Retallick of Golden Syrup, the emotionally intelligent dance musician waterhouse, violinist/beatsmith ORCHA, the experimental jazz-ambience of Lee Hannah and many more.

Whilst the everyday strips us of energy, ‘A Nice Warm Bath’ will soothe and replenish as ambient textures and light transforms the Dome into a healing, meditative space. Audiences will be treated to the large-scale visual delights of projection artist and event curator Carla Zimbler whose works have been exhibited across Copenhagen, Iceland and Sydney as well as a light sculpture by highly acclaimed installation artist, Meagan Streader. Walls across the venue will be mapped with site-specific visuals by Melbourne-based video artist Kate Geck – whose work features augmented and kaleidoscopic imagery. ‘A Nice Warm Bath’ will also feature new visual work from virtual.amb, Rachael Archibald (BNE) and scents by Erin Adams.
‘A Nice Warm Bath’ will be held on the closing night of Melbourne Music Week’s nine-day celebration of the city’s thriving, world-renowned music scene – offering a safe environment for meditation, calm reflection, colour therapy and sonic bliss.
