The band also announce their first US trek in years, with four West Coast shows leading to their Coachella debut on April 15 and 24. Skegss reach the end of their National Rehearsal Tour next weekend, with Perth’s Astor Theatre (Feb 11) and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall (Feb 12) following sold out shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart. See full dates here.
The wildy infectious ‘Stranger Days’ is afforded a new video directed by Jamieson Kerr, which sees drummer Jonny Lani training to run a marathon as his bandmates Ben Reed (vocals, guitar) and Toby Cregan (bass, vocals) refuel him—in classic Skegss’ fashion—with beers from a pub.
“I think I wrote it a while ago, being in a mood where it’s epic to try and ride out your ambitions and try and always look back when you kook it at life, and say I will try to be better, be a better friend, better partner, get better at getting better,” Reed explains. “Life is a changing, strange constant. But the more the days go on you get over things, so it’s about riding those feelings out when you get weirded out by the world.”

‘December’ is a heartfelt love letter to Christmas and the Australian summer; an ode to being in one’s hometown for the holidays, and the nostalgia that comes with it.
“‘December’ just happened naturally, the chord progression just rang a bit in the theme of Christmas and I must have been thinking about just how much fun it is over summer in my hometown,” Reed says. “Having beers down at the local pub on Chrissy Eve and just seeing the crew you grew up with. It’s epic the years when everyone is in town for it, it’s not even Christmas Day, it’s just the whole summer period. And I reckon so many times my New Year’s resolution is to get healthy and probably give the booze a spell, but I go one day, it gets hell hot and I end up with a beer in my hand before I know it. So yeah, all talk every time. Almost part of the tradition.”

New music follows the band’s recent single and tribute to their tour manager, guitar tech, and friend, ‘Bunny Man‘. Released last March via Loma Vista Recordings, Skegss’ latest album Rehearsal debuted at #1 on Australia’s ARIA Charts and earned the trio their first cover story at NME Australia, alongside support from Consequence, DIY, Best Fit and more. Rehearsal is also nominated for Best Record at this year’s Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards.
Skegss recently celebrated their fifth consecutive year in triple j’s Hottest 100, with ‘Valhalla‘ (#55) joining listener-voted hits ‘Under The Thunder‘ (#27), ‘Fantasising‘ (#66 – 2020); ‘Save It For The Weekend‘ (#31), ‘Here Comes Your Man‘ (#90 – 2019); ‘Up In The Clouds‘ (#11), ‘Smogged Out‘ (#71 – 2018) and ‘Got On My Skateboard‘ (#39 – 2017).

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
