Today, Skegss release their grungy, breezy new single ‘Fantasising‘ via Loma Vista Recordings / Caroline Australia, produced by Catherine Marks, alongside a video directed by Kai Neville.
After recent appearances at Lollapalooza’s Lolla 2020 Virtual Festival and their own Under The Thunder Black Tie World Tour livestream, the ‘Fantasising’ video finds the rising rock trio now playing an intimate dive bar run amok with alpacas, snakes, goats, and dogs.
Singer/guitarist Ben Reed, joined by bassist Toby Cregan and drummer Jonny Lani, together craft an electrifying track filled with escapist charm – “When I’m occupied I don’t have to think to breathe / As long as I’m making better memories / Cos these things last as far as I can see”. ‘Fantasising’ follows their June single ‘Under the Under‘.

Formed in 2014, Skegss – which includes members Ben Reed (vocals, guitar), Toby Cregan (bass) and Jonny Lani (drums) – first hooked listeners with a series of EP’s, before releasing their riotous-yet-nostalgic sugar-rush of a debut album, My Own Mess (triple j Feature Album, #2 ARIA Chart Debut), including Hottest 100 voted single ‘Up In The Clouds’ (#11). Last year saw the band notch two entries in the iconic triple j countdown with ‘Save It For The Weekend’ (#31) and their like a version re-imagining of The Pixies anthem ‘Here Comes Your Man’ (#90).
2019 saw the band sign with US label Loma Vista Recordings (Denzel Curry, St. Vincent, Marilyn Manson) and play their biggest US shows ever, before heading back to AUS with appearances at Yours and Owls Festival and Good Things Festival. They capped off the year with a massive New Year’s Eve show with mates Ruby Fields, Pist Idiots and Cupid and The Stupids at The Northern Hotel, Byron Bay.
With gold singles, sold out tours and more than 100 million streams under their belt, 2020 is on track to see Skegss continue their rise as one of Australia’s finest rock bands.
