Sloan Peterson is a romantic, a dreamer, a poet, an introvert and woman of immense ambition and resilience. The moniker –borrowed from the iconic film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off– is the musical identity of the Sydney-based artist blurring raw introspection with the stylistic and performative elements of ’60s French rock and fresh electronic pop of today.
Today, Sloan shares her debut single on Warner Music Australia, “Nightmare”, a lyrical story on the perspective of navigating the tricky waters of balance in a relationship. Inspired by personal experience, with some creative liberties taken for the stories sake, anyone who has experienced the battles of a long-term relationship might relate. Listen HERE.
“The beauty of song writing is creating a story or poem with emotive concepts; it could be elements of truth, exaggeration or completely fictional” says Sloan. “‘Nightmare’ is shining a light on the fact that perhaps my expectations in life could come across unrealistic at times, but on the other hand does that really make me a nightmare or just a strong-minded woman who knows what she wants. It’s written in a playful relationship sense but questioning the construct of being deemed bossy or controlling rather than assertive or driven. I think it’s something a few people might relate too, whether it be a personal, social or professional circumstance.”
Produced by Hauskey (aka Andy Hopkins) and mixed by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Wolf Alice) the single comes alongside a theatrical and witty music video. Directed by Courtney Brooks, the concept behind the clip explores the struggles of women when faced with unwarranted gestures. Watch the video below.

To celebrate the release of “Nightmare”, Sloan has announced a string of intimate live shows this coming November 5th and 6th at Sydney’s Lazy Bones in Marrickville. Tickets are on sale now and available HERE.
Growing up in Brisbane, Sloan was always dreaming in song. As a child, she danced, performed in musicals and sang and played the piano at church. Having drifted away from music in her early teens, a teenage move to Sydney to live with her sister changed everything. It led Sloan to the DIY creative scene of the southern suburbs, where she rediscovered her voice and independence.
By 19, the young musician was carving a name for herself in Sydney’s indie live scene as the stylish frontwoman of punk band the Black Zeros, then travelled to New York in pursuit of a music career with another project. In 2017, Sloan Peterson the band was born, leading to a support gig with The Kooks on tour in 2019, Australian radio support and over 1.8million streams. But Sloan Peterson (the artist) was just getting started.
“It’s a very different project now to what it was before,” says Sloan of new music she’s been working on, including an EP set for release early next year. Still possessing the powerful femininity, indie-pop charm and sublime lyric-writing that earned her a passionate fan base, Sloan’s new music feels incredibly of-the-moment, both in sound and subject matter. Adding “It’s more personal too. I’m writing from experience about relationships, hurt, family and misunderstandings.”

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
