‘Better Off’ exhibits the enigmatic production that SLUMBERJACK has refined and perfected over the past decade, exploring darker, brooding elements of electronic pop. The duo melt together atmospheric beats with the riveting raspiness of Lucy Lucy’s emotive hooks, centred around that pertinent feeling of attempting, yet failing, to forget someone who was a meaningful presence in one’s life. This next instalment of the ‘Dichotomy’ story once again illustrates SLUMBERJACK at their creative best when in collaboration with local talent, a constant theme throughout the upcoming album.
The duo discussed implementing pop tendencies into the trademark SLUMBERJACK sound, saying, “We’re constantly exploring further and further down the path of pop music but never want to lose the rawness and original essence that was the driving force for the SLUMBERJACK sound. ‘Better Off’ is us pushing that line; starting with something super poppy and roughening the edges until it feels right.
On how ‘Better Off’ fits into the context of the upcoming album, SLUMBERJACK said, “You can hear the Doshpuluur, a Tuvan lute, throughout the record which is reminiscent of the Oud we used at the beginning of ‘Fracture’. And of course, the whole goal of the Dichotomy album is to shine a light on juxtapositions, so the dark sounds are set against big luscious chords and beautiful vocals from Lucy Lucy.”

AMNPLIFY – TB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
