The acclaimed UK production and DJ duo Snakehips have joined forces with the inimitable Atlanta hip hop duo EarthGang for their new collaborative release, SNAKEGANG EP Volume. 1, out today. LISTEN HERE.

Featuring the infectious, classic house-infused focus track ‘GLIMMER.’, this EP represents the latest chapter in their creative synergy. SNAKEGANG EP Volume. 1 highlights their seamless blend of genres, continuing the momentum of their release ‘Been A Minute…’, featuring Sinéad Harnett which dropped last month and has been met with widespread recognition from HYPEBEAST, Consequence and UPROXX. The two acts have collaborated before, but the decision to embark on a full-length project with SNAKEGANG EP Volume. 1 was driven by their extraordinary creativity in the studio and on stage.

SNAKEGANG EP Volume. 1 is exhilarating from the first note. Hypnotic synths and captivating vocals in the introduction set the stage for a euphoric journey, as the lyrics declare, “I wanna live on the cloud / I wanna a million in pounds / I wanna paint up the town / I wanna know if you down.” The group’s creative dynamic is perfectly showcased in the EP’s focus track, ‘GLIMMER.’, blending nostalgic house vibes with an irresistible hip-hop allure. Snakehips’ crisp arrangement, featuring a captivating piano riff, sharp percussion, and ambient synths, creates a lush sonic landscape, while EarthGang’s smooth, vibrant vocals add a magical touch.

‘Bounce’, featuring rapper DijahSB, is a high-energy anthem celebrating allure, with EarthGang infusing Snakehips’ playful instrumental with their signature flow. Groovy basslines, a jazzy beat, and nostalgic R&B samples create a vibrant backdrop for EarthGang’s quippy lyricism: “I wanna live in your skin like electrons do.” ‘The Remedy’, featuring Rush Davis, sets a sultry, piano-driven mood, with EarthGang’s vibey flow blending seamlessly with Davis’ enticing hook. The EP concludes with the debut single ‘Been A Minute…’, featuring Sinéad Harnett. As a whole, this 5-track masterpiece showcases Snakehips and EarthGang’s chemistry and innovative artistry, delivering a genre-subverting sonic experience.

Snakehips shares, “While we’ve collaborated with EarthGang previously, this was the first time we truly vibed in the studio, generating a slew of new ideas. Like our past collaborations, we aimed to blend EarthGang’s flow with dance-oriented beats, creating a vibrant party atmosphere. ‘GLIMMER’ came together last; by then, we were completely immersed in the vibe, and the energy on that track felt electrifying.”

We love working with the guys, the energy flows so easily. Lots of these records were cooked up in Atlanta and LA, and the crowd in NY loved the preview at the Snakehips concert in NYC.”

Oliver Lee and James Carter, the celebrated UK production and DJ duo known as Snakehips, have amassed over 2 billion streams, enchanting global audiences with their distinctive and evolving blend of house, disco, funk, pop, R&B, and hip hop.

Their creative journey began in a Hong Kong sake bar in 2010, culminating in the 2015 smash hit ‘All My Friends’ featuring Tinashe and Chance The Rapper, which achieved platinum status in multiple countries and earned them the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song. In May 2023, the pair released their debut studio album, never worry, followed by a deluxe edition. EarthGang, the Atlanta-born Grammy-nominated duo comprising Olu (Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (DocturDot), has been redefining hip-hop since before their signing to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records in 2017. Known for innovative albums, EPs, and mixtapes, they collaborate widely, including with J. Cole, Mac Miller, Snoop Dogg, Young Thug, Future, Kehlani, Wiz Khalifa, CeeLo Green, Gorillaz, and more. Their music explores R&B, jazz, gospel, and funk, traversing deep societal themes and existential questions. Their 2022 sophomore album Ghetto Gods explores self-discovery, spirituality, and social justice over buoyant southern beats.
