Get ready to wine, dine and dance again when So Frenchy So Chic returns for another summer festival of pleasures. In 2018 the beloved party, picnic and celebration of joie de vivre spreads the love to Adelaide alongside Melbourne and Sydney, with even more music, food and frivolity – the Frenchy way of course.

La Musique

.

A longtime SFSC favourite, the Nigerian-born, French rapper FÉFÉ will take the stage with a brand new repertoire of chic Afro-influenced beats. Performing tracks from his 2017 album Mauve, Féfé will have audiences moving with his rhythmic repertoire and signature style, joy and je ne sais quoi.

Lovers of San Francisco’s Quannaum crew (Blackalicious, Lyrics Born, DJ Shadow and more) may already be familiar with the French-born Hervé Salters, aka GENERAL ELEKTRIKS. Boasting collaborations with Blackalicious, Femi Kuti and Mayer Hawthorne to name a few, we are very excited to bring his soulful, vintage funk meets-jazz groove to Australia this summer.

Fronted by the enigmatic and poetic Fránçois Marry, the eclectic sound of FRÀNÇOIS & THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS offers a menagerie of influences from Afro-pop to French chanson, along with electronic guitar pop and a dream-like flair. While their sound may be hard to define, as those who caught their euphoric set at So Frenchy in 2015 know, they are a perfect fit for a summer’s day of dancing barefoot on the grass. (Performing at Melbourne and Sydney only.)

Both seductive and sweet, retro and modern, the très avant-garde JUNIORE is our super-stylish and Saint Laurent-approved addition to the So Frenchy lineup. Self-described as ‘désespérément optimistes’ (desperate optimists) we’d rather describe them as the lost connection between fashion, surf, psychedelic pop, spaghetti westerns and the nouvelle vague film movement. Big sound, big fun.

Pronounced ‘Elijay’, the three-piece L.E.J has carved out a cult following with mesmerizing covers and originals, using three distinctive sounds: vocal harmonies, percussion and cello. Having broken through reinterpreting hits like Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ to ‘Panda’ by Desiigner with more than 150 million plays on Youtube, they’re now about to win Australian crowds with their own amazing compositions from their debut album.

Le Menu

.

Featuring the crème de la crème of the local French foodie scene, festival goers can look forward to wine, aperitifs and specialty bites such as mussels, oysters, crêpes, charcuterie, cheese platters, raclette, macaroons, ice cream and much more.

For those who like to plan their picnic ahead of time, there are specially curated hampers to pre-order with tasty inclusions from roasted chicken or ratatouille baguettes to goose egg meringues and berry salad with cream fraiche, along with equally délicieux vegetarian and gluten free options.

And what garden party would be complete without Champagne? The finest from Laurent Perrier
will be chilled and flowing all day, as will French beer, rosé from Provence, reds and whites from
Bordeaux, and special cocktails at the SFSC vintage caravan.

La Famille

.

So Frenchy has always been a family friendly event, with kids 12 and under welcome free of charge. If the tunes aren’t to the taste of your enfants at the Melbourne and Sydney events, there will be face painting, incredible bubble artists, drumming classes and lawn games like pétanque and croquet to keep them entertained.

La Joie De Vivre

.

In the past decade, So Frenchy So Chic has grown from a small series of concerts into one of summer’s most hotly anticipated boutique festivals. Styled in the theme of a fairy-tale estate in Provence, it’s always the next best thing to jetting off to Europe with superb food, wine, music and dancing in beautiful company.
