Sounds From The Borderline is very much invested in the town who will be playing host to the festival that is bringing Australian music royalty the likes of James Reyne, Diesel, Shannon Noll, Moving Pictures, Bachelor Girl and Colt Seavers Band, to the drought effected community on Saturday October 26.
Today marks one month to go until the festival and the festival organisers are adamant to do all they can in supporting the struggling community, announcing a partnership with local charitable organisation, Care Goondiwindi to assist with raising much needed funds and goods for their Drought Relief campaign.
In a post on Facebook earlier this month which has garnered far and wide attention, Goondiwindi local Boris Billing detailed how businesses had closed and farmers had been forced to sell due to the drought and providing some perspective on the drought. The open letter was well received going viral with shares clocking over 4,000 within days. (You can read the open letter on his Facebook page HERE.) It was an urgent plea to people to visit the Border town for the Festival – a festival, he worked so hard to fight for, for the sake of the region.
As part of the partnership, Sounds From The Borderline organisers are donating $5 from every Festival ticket sold to the drought relief fund and also encourages festival attendees to dig deep and drop any spare change in the bins that will be positioned throughout the festival site or to donate goods to help the struggling communities and farmers within the region.
Bins will be set up at the entrance point of Sounds From The Borderline festival that will be used to collect donations including any non-perishable grocery and amenity items, baby and toddler items, school supplies, first aid supplies, animal food, clothing, water – anything at all that attendees would like to donate.
Promoter Rick Szabo says, “I encourage everyone attending and those who are still yet to buy tix for our event to come along and please give something from the list provided. Our mates out there need us and we should all do our best here.”
