Praise for SOUTH SUMMIT

“They could be Perth’s next breakout band, but South Summit are just as interested in becoming role models and giving back to the community as crafting heartfelt indie rock anthems. South Summit only have a handful of tunes to their name but nearly all of them pop with the confidence of a band much further into their career.” Triple j

“The band mixes timeless psych influences with a dusty mysticism, like each electric lick is a chance to escape being young and big for your boots in isolated WA. It’s still early days for South Summit but there’s so much promise of what’s to come with this band. Imagine a dark and brooding Ocean Alley cut and you’ve got the vibe of their new one ‘River Days’. It’s dreamy, soaring coastal indie with big guitars and swelling vocals” Triple J Unearthed

“They’ve become ingrained within live music spaces in such a short time that it feels like they’ve always been there; their heartfelt indie-rock being an easy fit into the growing next generation emerging from Western Australia.” Pilerats

“The chorus for Tired of Waiting just soars! A huge moment for South Summit” Triple J, Nick Findlay

“Epic track right here – it’s got a little bit of everything! Gentle folk harmonies, yearning blues and then a swirling dubby climax. These competing parts of South Summit could seemingly overpower the track but this band nail the mix.” Triple J, Dave Ruby Howe

“There is something special about this up and coming five-piece. With infectious energy, huge melodies, and an enigmatic frontman showcasing beautiful, honest storytelling, you might think it would be easy to get lost in the South Summit mix – but it’s the way the band manage to masterfully balance every element, constructing a sound that is both familiar and uniquely their own, that showcases the band’s true promise.” Ticketmaster

Having made a name for themselves across Laneway Festival, BIGSOUND, NYE On The Hill, Day On The Lawn, Springtime Festival & mammoth WA headline dates over the past 12-months, South Summit have today announced their upcoming Australian headline dates, ready to kick off their 2023 with a flurry of live performances. Having already cut their teeth on East Coast touring to captivated audiences last year, South Summit are returning to larger rooms, more cities & the experience of a rapid 12 months of performances in their back pocket.

Starting out in Newcastle, the band will travel to play Vanfest, before reaching Byron Bay, Brisbane, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne & Hobart. The tour rounds out with what is sure to be the band’s largest headline performance to date, performing in Perth & the iconic Margaret River. With sophomore EP ‘Creatures’ providing South Summit the opportunity to bookend this formative chapter of their story, the band are excited to be taking acclaimed singles ‘Promise Me’, ‘Tired of Waiting’ & ‘Runaway’ on the road.

“We’re so excited to announce that we’ll be heading back for our next tour around Australia in March. We had such a good time on our last tour that we had to come back as soon as we could. There are so many exciting shows lined up, including completely new places for us like Newcastle and Hobart. And of course all the other great cities like Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Byron Bay and Wollongong. We can’t wait to put on a good show for you, see ya there!”

About South Summit

South Summit have well and truly surpassed expectations, making a name for themselves across Australia, with a nomination for triple j Unearthed ‘Artist of The Year’, alongside landing #4 Most Played on the station, the icing on the cake of last year’s accolades.

‘Creatures’ adds 3 new tracks to the South Summit story, with the release being opened with ‘Yaama’ (hello) & finished with ‘Yaluu’ (bye). Focus-track ‘Changes’ is notable, with frontman Isaiah Reuben diving into personal turmoil, realizing that obstacles & change is inevitable; giving in to this and working to move forward, growing into someone stronger and denying stagnation.

Previous single ‘Promise Me’ launched South Summit from their precipice of talent, to a breakout act – ones to watch for 2022. Tastemakers triple j also added ‘Tired of Waiting’ to full rotation, supporting it across air & online, before nominating the band as triple j Unearthed ‘Artist of The Year’. They found support from MTV Australia, as well as  Spotify editorial, with ‘Local Noise’, ‘Fresh Finds’ & ‘Original Storytellers’ adds, accumulating 1.2 million streams online.

Focused intently on spreading positivity through their work, South Summit also took to visiting schools, prisons & youth detention centers across WA for NAIDOC week last year, providing inmates & attendees with an opportunity to share in their performance, cultures and a chance  to connect with the band over a shared passion for music & creativity.
