Spilt Milk festival has officially wrapped up its 2019 tour in its biggest year yet. Across two weekends, Spilt Milk returned to its hometown Canberra on Saturday, November 23, before arriving in Ballarat for a stellar debut on Saturday, November 30, bringing with it an injection of international and local talent, music and culture.
Drawing festival-goers from across the country, Spilt Milk delivered two days of innovative art, mouth-watering food and star-studded performances including US R&B sensation Khalid, synth-pop trio CHVRCHES and rapper Juice WRLD. The international bill was met with an array of Aussie talent, with performances from Tones And I, Winston Surfshirt, Middle Kids, Golden Features and more.
Kicking off the earlier sets were NZ’s left-of-centre pop sensation BENEE, psych-rock frontrunners Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and drummer-singer G Flip, before the crowd gathered to hear worldwide phenomenon Tones And I perform her worldwide hit “Dance Monkey”, sending waves through the hooked audience.
Electro-indie dance sensations Confidence Man helped set the festive tone with dynamic sets across both weekends, followed by the Post-Malone-approved Lime Cordiale, pop prodigy Kota Banks and triple j Unearthed High winner Arno Faraji, highlighting the diverse roster of Australian talent. Fans were soon treated to Sydney’s alt-rocker sweethearts Middle Kids and euphoric notes with indie-electronic trio Mansionair, before Ocean Alley took to the stage with a collection of their Hottest 100-approved hits, including the #1 title, “Confidence”.
Surf party-rockers Dune Rats ignited a raucous crowd with a string of garage-rock anthems, while masked producer Golden Features and the equally enigmatic Running Touch served energy-fuelled bangers to the late-night revellers. Genre-defying Juice WRLD, captivated a sea in their thousands, performing his crowd-favourite ‘emo-rap’ hits, before the uplifting CHVRCHES and Grammy nominee, Khalid took to the stage to close out the 2019 tour.
Returning for its second year at Spilt Milk, and delivering the sounds of the tropics was the BACARDÍ El Coco Tropical Danceteria where a string of acts including ARIA nominee Genesis Owusu and festival favourites Winston Surfshirt amongst others played.
A host of diverse local artists, including the return of Sydney organisation Studio A, brought the grounds to life with colour, fun and inspiring works, while mouth-watering food including Belle’s Hot Chicken, Dounug and Sparrow’s Philly Cheesesteak kept crowds busy between their favourite acts.
In its fourth year, debuting its second location in Ballarat, and drawing in a crowd in their tens of thousands, Spilt Milk 2019 have delivered their biggest year to date. Fusing hip-hop, alt-rock, electronic and genre-bending pop, across two awe-inspiring days, Spilt Milk firmly holds its reputation as one of Australia’s most unmissable festivals.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
