Splendour XR is a virtual world where music, art and culture reigns supreme. Where lockdowns and social distancing don’t exist. Where mesmerised mobs dance in the forest to the freshest beats, yoga enthusiasts salute the sun and passionate people discuss the most important issues of the day. There’s so much more to Splendour XR than the main stages and it’s all there for you to explore in THE FORUM, GLOBAL VILLAGE, LITTLE SPLENDOUR, COMEDY CLUB and TIPI FOREST…

THE FORUM

Protagonists, politicians, poets and a former Federal Police Commissioner. Academics, journalists, actors and educators. Writers, composers, comedians, scientists and survivors… They all collide in spectacular fashion at The Forum!

Festival philosophers, it’s time to put on your thinking caps and delve into some deep deliberation, speculation and contemplation as The Forum tackles topics such as consent, the future of drugs, AI bias, music and mental health, gaming soundtracks and more, alongside a keynote speech by 2021 Australian of the Year, Grace Tame, that is set to create headlines.

When you need some ‘me’ time at Splendour XR, it’s time to pay a visit to the Zen oasis that is The Global Village. Kick off your Splendour XR day with magical happenings at The Global Village where you’ll find a great mix of culture, mindfulness and performance.

Celebrate First Nations wisdom as you learn about native bush tucker, meditation to connect to country, decolonisation, rewilding, storytelling, sound healing and spirituality. Dive into Taoist philosophy and consciousness, tantric wisdom and Kundalini dance, movement mediation, sexuality, tapping, yoga and environmental education. And enjoy performances as varied as cabaret, spoken word and storytelling, circus arts, music, drum and dance and more.

TIPI FOREST

Step into the virtual forest to catch original music producers and DJ’s playing fresh beats and a range of genre bending sounds. Enjoy wicked light shows, intricate lasers, and otherworldly projections. Connect with the beat and the people around you as epic lightscapes and psychedelic art guide the way. The Tipi Forest is where you’ll get weird, get loose and shake it!

If you’re ready to dance, click your way to the Tipi Forest at sunset and celebrate with a wild sonic manifestation of pure underground sounds, from Bass to Glitch, House to Techno, Trap to Trance and everything in between.  All created just for you by some of the finest and freshest acts from Byron Bay and beyond.

LITTLE SPLENDOUR

Calling all pint-sized punk rockers! Splendour XR’s resident cool kid on the block, Little Splendour, is packed with kids-only adventures.

Little Splendour will treat rug rats to performances by some of Australia’s most popular children’s bands and performers. Settle the kids in for story time and lol to the antics of clowns and balloon artists. Feel the rhythm with drumming and percussion and learn about caring for the planet through nature craft, recycling, animals and edible flowers. Finally, watch them marvel at incredible stilt walkers and songs about visiting the skate park.

Splendour XR will operate LIVE globally on a single timezone, 12pm to 2am AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) (GMT +11) with programming kicking off from 2pm.

All video content will be available as video on demand (VOD) for 7 days after the event. It will be available via the web and mobile versions, the virtual world will not be accessible.
