Head of Music Culture and Editorial at Spotify Australia & NZ, Alicia Sbrugnera, says “we were thrilled with the response to Front Left Live last year. The goal was to build a stronger Spotify playlist brand, then take it to the stage through a live event; our first major live public event in this region and the first time bringing a playlist brand to life. In doing so we were able to increase the listenership of the Front Left playlist and help over 500,000 fans discover more of the best and most diverse new music than ever before.”

Swedish pop sensation Tove Lo, best known for her hits “Habits”, “Talking Body” and “Cool Girl” who struck a chord with local fans when she collaborated with Flume and Daniel Johns on “Say It” in 2016, will ignite the Front Left Live stage, headlining the event in her only Australian live performance. The award-winning performer and Grammy-nominated songwriter’s album Sunshine Kitty is out September 20th, with the first track off that album “Glad He’s Gone” amassing close to 15 million streams since its release in mid-June.

Breakout Australian superstar, Tones And I, currently has the number one song on Spotify’s Australia Top 50, an ARIA #1, tracks in 157 playlists worldwide, over 40 million streams amassed (in under four months), and is about to embark on a sold-out Australian headline tour. She shot to fame after releasing her debut platinum single “Johnny Run Away”, which is still going strong in Hot Hits Australia 12-weeks on. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength, moving on from busking in Byron Bay to filling the airwaves with her unique and distinct sound in follow up platinum single “Dance Monkey”, which was recently added to Today’s Top Hits (Spotify’s biggest playlist worldwide), and latest release Never Seen the Rain”. Tones’ highly anticipated debut EP The Kids Are Coming is set for release on August 30.

girl in red, aka Norwegian singer-songwriter and producer Marie Ulven, will bring her candid indie-pop to Melbourne this October. Building a burgeoning online fanbase, and featuring in 115 Spotify playlists globally, Ulven’s music speaks to a generation of lo-fi pop fans connecting with her authentic, self-produced bedroom project with tracks including “i wanna be your girlfriend”, “summer depression”and “i’ll die anyway”.

Auckland artist BENEE will bring her mystical meld of indie, R&B and pop sounds. Her wildly popular single Soaked” has amassed a whopping 21 million streams since release, also popping up on Hot Hits Australia, Indie Pop and Pop Rising playlists thanks to fan favourite “Evil Spider” and Front Left’s “Glitter” from her debut EP FIRE ON MARZZ.

Rounding out the lineup is Electric Fields, Adelaide-based producer/composer Michael Ross and vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding. Their blend of traditional Aboriginal culture, language and modern electronic soul is a striking point of difference in the musical landscape, with “Don’t You Worry” and “2000 and Whatever” destined to alight the Front Left Live dancefloor early in the night. Featured prominently in Spotify’s flagship First Nation playlists Blak Australia and Deadly Beats, Electric Fields have continued to grow their following through features in Front Left, The Local List, and Indie Arrivals playlists.
