After almost seven years, Stormzy has made his long-awaited Australian return at Laneway Festival 2024. Taking to the stage in Brisbane and Sydney this weekend, the UK superstar gifted fans with a world-class set featuring mind-blowing pyrotechnics, confetti and celebratory fireworks. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind – Stormzy was worth the wait.
Laneway Festival welcomed over 45,000 fans to the Brisbane and Sydney events and is on track to break record attendance numbers across Australia and New Zealand. Thanks to the star-studded 2024 lineup – featuring Dominic Fike, Steve Lacy and Raye – highlights from the weekend were aplenty.
In Brisbane, fans arrived in the early afternoon to see proud Yorta Yorta, Kalkadoon and Yirendali artist Miss Kaninna and her infectious hit ‘Blak Britney’. Atlanta singer-songwriter Faye Webster pulled on the heartstrings of a sea of adoring fans. RAYE celebrated the anniversary of her debut album release with lucky Brisbane punters and the joyous screams from Dominic Fike’s crowd reached decibels that we’ve never heard before. In Sydney, Laneway Festival’s air conditioned main stages were a welcomed treat on what was a beautiful summer day. LA’s wildly inventive duo Paris Texas riled up the crowd with their pure energy and irresistible urgency. As day turned to night, Sydney’s outdoor dance arena The Chop Shop dialed up the energy with emerging Australian dance music, while the Everything Ecstatic stage turned into a warehouse-like party with high-energy DJ sets from Nia Archives, HorsegiirL_ and Skin on Skin.
This weekend, Laneway Festival heads into its second weekend of shows. On Friday 9 February, Laneway Festival Adelaide takes over the green city oasis, Bonython Park. Next, Laneway heads to Melbourne on Saturday 10 February, taking place at The Park, Flemington. Finally, on Sunday 11 February, Laneway Festival’s Trans-Tasman tour wraps up on the West Coast at Perth’s Wellington Square. All three remaining dates have pristine weather forecasts and don’t forget – Laneway Festival merch designed by Australian artist Jack Irvine is available at all shows.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
