Suicide Swans are alt-country/rock’s answer to psych rock heros King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. After the release of their critically acclaimed album Augusta in October 2017, now with their newest release La Jungla, and another record set for release later this year, the band are currently averaging one full-length release every six months. The five piece write and record in their home studio in Toowoomba, they release everything independently on their own label Near Enough Records and their live show is a raucous, energetic spectacle.

Their newest release “Here on Out / Turn off the Lights” is an 11 minute masterpiece recorded live alongside the entire album. A true representation of lead singer Kyle Jenkins ode to artistic value and poetic endeavour
“I don’t necessarily work on a theme but instead start to write where fragments of music and lyrics come together gradually and create an image”. Jenkins explains the inspiration behind this double track euphoria “I wanted to write a song that had two parts to the story, a Side A / Side B vinyl feel. So first part: ‘Here On Out’ is all about being completely committed to someone and that it is just the two of you taking on the world while building your own new world at the same time in a complete bubble of blissful ignorance. The second part: ‘Turn Off The Lights’ is all about that world you’ve built coming to an end and trying to face it but denying it somewhat at the same time. Everything ends and that is the sad fact of reality.”
La Jungla is a thirteen song, near hour and a half sonic journey incorporating classic 60s/70s rock, acoustic folk/country laments and explorative jams. It is a layered, present and forceful album exuding with the spontaneity and excitement of their live shows, while capturing the sonic immediacy of five individuals performing together.

Suicide Swans have become a live show powerhouse on the circuit since 2012. After releasing their sophomore album Augusta, they received critical success: Rolling Stone 4 Stars, Sydney Morning Herald 4 Stars, Rhythms Magazine 4 Stars, Post To Wire 4 stars – “One of the best roots albums of the year“.
The band will be playing a run of shows alongside a number of epic bands, and will be pushing and capturing their live sound with a distinctive potency that is all their own.
