Alternative Hip-Hop and indie crossover star, Dylan Cartlidge is back with a fresh remix of his track “Anything Could Happen” by Superorganism, the hypermodern and globally-scattered DIY 8-piece whose previous remixes included tracks for Gorillaz, Danny L. Harle & Clairo, Polo & Pan, and Hot Chip.

Known for creating kaleidoscopic cut-and-paste pop music, Superorganism are the perfect match for Dylan’s upbeat technicolour original which delivers a positive message that “Anything Could Happen” as long as you take small positive steps each day.

The remix delivers the perfect slice of infectious indie-pop meets alternative hip-hop with Dylan’s verses and chorus being strikingly warped and bent whilst vocals from Superorganism’s Orono are dropped into the track in her distinctive cool and casual style. The overall result is a remix which feels like riding a wave of fresh positivity.

Dylan had the following to say on the new remix: “When the thought of having a re-invention of ‘Anything Could Happen’ came along, I couldn’t imagine I’d be working with one of the coolest artists I could think of in Superorganism. I’ve always been a massive fan and ever since their self-titled debut, I’ve just been hooked. They really dug the song and went crazy on the remix, adding their own unique twist on the track in what can only be described as a majestical blend of the styles that go hand in hand.”

Superorganism added: Dylan slaps all eight strings of the Superorganism cloud-based soul extension. We hope that you will join us for an eternity of excellent wifi reception and high speed mobile data uploads. To begin this process click on the remix.”

Hailing from Redcar, a small town in the North-East of England, Dylan Cartlidge’s story is one of hope above adversity. His music is an ode to embracing individuality and defying the odds associated with his own turbulent upbringing which included being raised in the care system.

With two EP’s under his belt (2019’s ‘Monsters Under the Bed’ and 2020 followup ‘Yellow Brick Road’) Dylan’s upward trajectory since his debut includes a UK-wide 13 date headline tour as well as performances at SXSW, Glastonbury and Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Middlesbrough. Along the way, he has also gained praise from radio tastemakers including Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Jack Saunders, Phil Taggart and Matt Wilkinson. Summer 2020 saw Dylan breaking new ground with a debut top 40 placing at US alternative radio.

Having been forced to shield at home in Middlesbrough during the COVID-19 lockdown, the isolation period offered Dylan fresh perspective on his creativity as well as an opportunity to work on his latest music with cutting edge and boundary pushing new collaborators including Ed Irwin-Singer (Glass Animals), Al Shux (writer/producer for Jay Z, Lana Del Rey, Alicia Keys) and Ivor Novello winning and Grammy nominated Eg White (Adele, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith).

These opportunities have meant that Dylan’s latest work, whilst continuing his signature subversive take on underground hip-hop, also introduces a new blues and gospel-influenced sound which Dylan developed naturally during his period of self-reflection in isolation. Inspired from a place of vulnerability for Dylan, his new and upcoming work carries sounds of bold technicolour filled with soul.

Dylan’s latest music, including “Anything Could Happen” is a taste of his new direction – it is a snapshot of who he is right now as he continues to spread his unflinching storytelling and infectious enthusiasm for keeping positive.
