Melbourne’s king of collaborations and club curations, Swick today releases his electrifying mixtape Court Composer via NLV Records. A production connoisseur of eclectic sounds, Swick’s latest release unites a roster of both local and international talent with his solo explorations, to create a refreshing and genre-pushing offering.
Launching into a scintillating mix of pulsating synths and staggered beats, “Polo Love” feat. Spank Rock presents a delectable opening of what’s to come from the colourful full-length release. US rapper Spank Rock’s soulful melodies collide alongside Swick’s intricate production, maintaining an alluring movement before second track and 2017 release “Slopes” feat. Tkay Maidza and Capo Lee. Slime-drenched production combines with verses from south London’s Capo Lee and the formidable vocals of powerhouse Tkay Maidza, soon erupting into Swick’s paradoxical flair for delivering instrumental frenzies executed with fiery precision. Continuing the track rollout is club sensation “Hydration” feat. Nina Las Vegas, presenting a whirlwind of seductive vocals and a trademark array of warping sounds and dancing beats to keep you on your toes. Recent release “1000 Shots” feat. Merky Ace follows, providing a thrusting beat married with elements of hip-hop to be enjoyed all over again. “Decisions” feat. Kota Banks, revisits a match made in heaven with Banks’ sugar-dipped melodies partnered alongside Swick’s sonic prowess in commanding a slew of club-leaning synths.
Swick’s knack for complex sound design is laid bare in dazzling instrumental piece “Everywhere”, before the ominous echoing vocals of “Mfana” feat. Kamohelo and Savage Skulls brings you back to reality. Warping samples dodge between beats that are coated in rolling flows from South Africa’s Kamohelo for an effortlessly cool track. The bouncing house sounds of successive track “Bum Bum Riddim” mimic the title’s playful hook in a string of samples, before opening to the powerful lyrics in “Send Me The Money” feat. Capo Lee. Capped off with an exhilarating club mix in “M1 Stinger”, Swick’s new collection is set to make a storm.
Exceptional across all boards, Swick’s career has seen collaborations with the likes of Diplo, Major Lazer, Tkay Maidza, Spank Rock, Nina Las Vegas, Capo Lee and more, many that culminate on Court Composer. His sonic finesse has been lauded since his collab EP with Diplo Keep It Gully, featuring the B-side “Dat A Freak” which formed the basis of Jennifer Lopez’s “Booty” feat. Pitbull and Iggy Azalea. His ever-exciting production has featured extensively on pop gem Kota Banks and her new PRIZE mixtape, alongside Swedish Rapper Lilla Namo’s saucy EP Beep Beep, Nina Las Vegas’ most recent Lucky Girl EP and a recent Charli XCX remix for “5 in the Morning” with Nina.
Swick supported Diplo on his Australian tour last year, playing alongside Post Malone, Anna Lunoe and Nina Las Vegas to packed pavilion-sized venues across Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. The producer also performed at a string of NLV Records parties earlier this year alongside his electric label mates. Recently returning from a string of shows in Japan with close collaborator and label namesake Nina Las Vegas, Swick is proving an unstoppable force in 2018, adding a new collection to his glowing track record of killer club releases and collaborations to match.
