Sycco — aka Sasha McLeod, the 22-year-old First Nations singer, songwriter, and producer has released her highly anticipated debut album Zorb, released today via Future Classic.
LISTEN TO ZORB
The album lives in a syrup-textured sonic world, with psychedelic rock, dizzying hyperpop, and high-octane electronic dance music all melting together. But the acid-fried garage rock of her previous work is in full swing on Zorb, and when tuning in to those undertones, Sycco’s first full-length record feels stunningly luminescent.
Sycco wrote and co-produced every track on the album, completing it with a cast of pop and electronic music’s biggest names including Chrome Sparks, Flume, Mallrat, Banoffee, and Styalz Fuego.
Sycco says: “When I met Jeremy (Chrome Sparks) we instantly connected and he is like a music soulmate. We both worked incredibly hard on these songs and had so much fun being in this psychedelic world last year. Writing the album, I collaborated with so many incredibly talented individuals, and even worked on two songs with my housemates. It truly feels like an album created by community.”
Made electrifying by Sycco’s unique synth-driven, psychedelic pop music, Zorb is a journey through the wonderful chaos of your early 20s; inspired by Sasha navigating lockdowns, breakups, newfound independence and friendship all while living in a crumbling sharehouse in Brisbane – “The Zorb”. Each song is a different snapshot of sharehouse life, the album’s focus track ‘Meant To Be’ documents the first steps into independence, the excitement of moving out of home and the way a deep conversation with a friend can be the ultimate balm. All the album visuals and music videos were shot at the sharehouse or hand-in-hand with her housemates to bring it back to where it all began.

‘I’m Here Now’ was one of the tracks written with Sash’s housemates, and features US rapper, songwriter, and producer, redveil — the collaboration came to be during an LA studio session when redveil instantly connected with the track and laid down a verse.
Previous glimpses of the glowing sounds in Zorb came with ‘Monkey Madness,’ ‘Touching and Talking’ (“a swirling synth-pop groove that captures the fleeting feeling of love at first sight” – Rolling Stone), ‘Swarm’ and ‘I’d Love To Tell You’ (“a trippy daydream…recalls a bit of the addictive energy that propelled Troye Sivan’s ‘Rush’ to the forefront of the pop conversation in 2023” – Consequence).
“Zorb is about my inner and outer world. It’s a snapshot of my life at present & the experiences I have had.” Shares Sycco, “At its core, it’s all about connection, paying homage to the people that held my hand through it all.” Step into the Zorb ball and join in on the ride! Fans can catch Sycco live at triple j’s One Night Stand in September and Beyond The Valley festival in December.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
