Multi-instrumentalist and global sensation – Tash Sultana – today releases a smooth-hypnotic new single entitled ‘Free Mind’, which premiered last night on triple j’s Drive Show with Veronica & Lewis. Taken from Tash’s forthcoming highly anticipated debut album FLOW STATE – out August 31st through Lonely Lands Records and Sony Music Entertainment Australia – this mesmerising new release directly follows previous FLOW STATE anthems ‘Salvation’ and ‘Harvest Love’. Pre-order FLOW STATE now.
On ‘Free Mind’ Tash reveals: “‘Free Mind’ was a song written over a couple of years. It was pretty much three different songs that I couldn’t figure out how to put together until one day when I was in the studio it kind of just fell into place. I don’t usually write songs that are 3 minutes 30 seconds because I find that super challenging, but I feel like I have said what I needed to say. ‘When will my mind be free from all the chains that hold me down?’”
Tash Sultana recently announced a very special one-off Australian headline show on January 12th, 2019, at Pineapple Fields on the Sunshine Coast as part of the ‘Flow State World Tour’. Joining Tash for this special outdoor camping event is a mega line up including Ocean Alley, Oka, Lime Cordiale, Son Zephyr, Big Words, Reuben Stone and Greta Stanley. This will be the first headline show in over a year on Australian soil, with Tash playing a full two-hour set. Tash will also perform a special headlining set at Lost Picnic Festival in October, debuting the highly anticipated album live for fans in Melbourne on October 7th and Sydney on October 13th.
All of the songs on FLOW STATE are produced, written, performed and arranged by Tash, who plays every one of the 15 instruments and sounds that feature throughout, including saxophone, pan flute, grand piano and guitar to name a few. The album was engineered by Nikita Miltiadou, mixed by Dann Hume and mastered by Andrei Eremin.
The one-person powerhouse started out playing open mic nights with a fake ID and busking on the streets of Melbourne. Now Tash is selling out every headline show, from theatres to arenas across multiple countries, and playing dozens of high profile festivals around the globe. Just last week, Tash performed to 6000 loyal fans in severe rain at RBC Echo Beach in Toronto – and even in the downpour – Tash kept the electric energy and the stage alive with an absolutely killer performance. Check it out here.
Recent accolades for Tash Sultana include over 200 million streams of the Notion EP, topping the iTunes chart in multiple countries, achieving Gold ARIA sales for the EP and Platinum sales for the single ‘Jungle’, which came in at #3 in triple j’s Hottest 100 and also featured in FIFA 18. In 2017, Tash also won the prestigious Unearthed J Award, was nominated for 4 x ARIA Awards, multiple APRA Awards and recently performed standout sets at Coachella and Lollapalooza 2018.
