With the release of their latest EP Midnight Driving fast approaching (out Friday 3rd March via Chugg Music), today Teenage Dads release their latest single and EP title track Midnight DrivingTo mark the release, Teenage Dads have also revealed an incredibly eerie, mysterious and dark Halloween-inspired official video clip for the new single.

A fan-favourite to be played at the band’s electrifying live shows long before it’s release, Midnight Driving’s extraterrestrial-esque synths are layered over a slower, bass-heavy melody with melancholy lyricism – introducing a new side and sound of the band we’re yet to hear. Nostalgic of late Summer nights driving through the suburbs, the band explain Midnight Driving was written whilst “coming to an understanding that a relationship is on its way out. Maybe you don’t want it to end, maybe you do. Depends on which seat you’re in. Are you in the passenger seat begging to go for another drive? Or are you the driver ready to speed off into the night?”

To celebrate the release of their highly requested new single, Teenage Dads have treated us with an eerie new video clip that gives Midnight Driving a whole new, hauntingly wicked meaning. The Halloween-inspired official video follows the band getting ready for a very Americana-inspired night of trick-or-treating that takes a dark turn. Directed by Kyle Caulfield (Three Nights) and shot on location in Melbourne, the band explain “we’ve always wanted to do something less happy-go-lucky, so it was an exciting change seeing ourselves in these spooky settings,”  the end product like “a horror film from the 80s.”

Featuring recent electrifying singles Hey, Diego!Teddy and Exit Sign, Teenage Dads’ upcoming Midnight Driving EP also features two additional unreleased tracks that take a slight sonic detour from their distinctive upbeat, experimental sound and adventurous storylines, offering something new and electrifying for fans by tackling a variety of genres that we haven’t seen before from the group. Uncovering a side of their sound that is a little older and a little wiser, yet just as catchy and sonically adventurous, Midnight Driving “… is about perspective. How things look from one point of view, and how they can change over time from another outlook. The songs feel like diary entries, documented internally, like conversations you have with yourself when you go Midnight Driving. A constant, internal form of therapy almost.”

The new single follows on from the band’s debut in triple j’s annual Hottest 100 countdown coming in at #63 with recent single Teddy, and a first-time appearance on the stations iconic Like A Version segment covering The Buggles’ 80s anthemVideo Killed The Radio Starand originalTeddy’.

Renowned for their energetic and dynamic live show, Teenage Dads will kick off their national Midnight Driving Tour from the 3rd March 2023 taking their out-of-this-world live show across a 10-stop Australian & New Zealand tour playing their biggest crowds and venues yet. With no signs of slowing down, the band will join the 2023 Groovin The Moo lineup playing across six regional stops, before joining good friends Lime Cordiale as special guests on their UK & Ireland tour as well as their own headline shows across Dublin, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London.

Teenage Dads’ Midnight Driving EP will be out from Friday 3rd March 2023, available to pre-order NOW at https://teenagedadsofficial.com/

Hailing from Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, the breakthrough indie-act are showing no signs of slowing down. Teenage Dads kicked off 2022 playing to some of the biggest audiences to date as special guests on good-mates Lime Cordiale’s 14 Steps To A Better You national tour, followed up with a feature slot on Spacey Jane’s Here Comes Everybody national arena tour. Wanting to give their fans the full headline experience, Teenage Dads kicked off their 11 stop Exit Sign tour over May & June 2022, and wrapped up their Ready Teddy Go tour in December 2022 after playing a run of sold-out, headline shows across the country. Initially announcing 13 x dates, demand for tickets quickly saw the tour extended to 23 x dates including, sold out shows at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge, the Gold Coast’s Vinnies Dive Bar, Sydney’s The Lansdowne (3 x sold out shows), and Melbourne’s Nightcat (3 x sold out shows), Northcote Social Club and Gasometer.

The band were also nominated for Best New Artist in the 2022 Rolling Stone Awards Australia alongside names including Genesis Owusu and MAY-A.
