After what has been nothing short of an incredible few months since releasing their debut single ‘Crowded’, Melbourne new-wave band Telescreen are back with their brooding new single ‘Love Proud’ – OUT FRIDAY 27 JULY
‘Love Proud’ is the second instalment from Telescreen’s double A-side 7” vinyl. As with their previous release, this new retro-inspired direction and soundscape from the band was developed in collaboration with highly renowned Aussie producer Dean Tuza (The Rubens, Stella Donnelly, MOSSY, Moody Beach) and 4-time ARIA nominee Tony Espie (The Avalanches, Missy Higgins, Urthboy).
Telescreen jam an overwhelming and emotional combination of both tension and confusion into this moody new track. Whilst it is clear ‘Love Proud’s’ has strong themes of betrayal and deceit, Telescreen frontman Nic Schwarz explains that the meaning behind the song is fluid –
“While the lyrics are dynamic, no one thing has a particular meaning, or necessarily has any meaning at all.”

It didn’t take long for Telescreen to get tongues talking following the release of their popular debut single ‘Crowded’ . The track quickly climbed the Triple J Unearthed charts, seeing it debut at #3 on the pop charts and #9 on the overall charts. Catching the attention of the Triple J team, Declan Byrne delivered the band their first ever spin on the station via Home & Hosed.
‘Crowded’ continued to gain traction around the country with the band receiving regular airplay on stations such as 4ZZZ, FBi Radio and Radio Adelaide, as well as being added to high rotation on SYN. This saw Telescreen jump to #2 on the AMRAP regional charts and #9 on the metro charts, sharing the top 10 with the like of Aussie greats, Courtney Barnett, Dan Sultan and Remi. ‘Crowded’ now has over 15k Spotify streams with listeners from all over the world, landing the band a new world-wide distribution deal with Believe Digital.
Following their sell-out debut live appearance earlier this year, Telescreen have continued to make headway in Melbourne, playing a heavy run of shows across town including headline gigs at The Toff, The Workers Club, a mini-residency at The Retreat Hotel and now, with the release of this single ‘Love Proud’, playing their biggest show to date, downstairs at The Gasometer Hotel.
