February 10, 2023 – Tex Perkins and The Fat Rubber Band have today released the follow-up to their 2021 self-titled debut in new album Other World.
Kicking off with the heartfelt lead single Brand New Man, the song which inspired the album, you’re instantly drawn into this Other World and led to another standout on the record, in the hauntingly beautiful Around The World. Written by (and featuring) Lucie Thorne, who gifted the song to Tex after he complimented her on the song at a gig, the addition of Charlie Barker on saw takes it to another level with its hypnotic “strange other worldly, yet earthy old times” sound. From loosening up with the rhythmic blues-groove of current single (I Wanna Be) Close To You and the prog rock swampy blues sounds of This Monin’, to a turn at the crossroads with The Devil Ain’t Buying, Other World sees Tex and his Fat Rubber Band in top form, with Stack Magazine’s Jeff Jenkins commenting that Tex has “delivered some of his finest work”.

Recorded and produced by Roger Berdogaz in his home studio, with input from Tex and Matt, Tex explains “I loved making this record so much…because fucking magic happened. Yes, that’s right, magic or how about alchemy? I witnessed ideas, thoughts, whims and imaginings transmute almost effortlessly into living breathing songs with a soul and a heartbeat and even their own private history every time we went into the studio for this recording. Actually, no, magic is better.”
Expanding even more, Perkins says “This magic came about with the help of over 40 years of experience from each of the Fat Rubber band members. They’re all truly great players and they’re all really generous collaborators, so I guess what I’m saying is, it doesn’t matter what happens from here.”

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
