“This is song of the year so far for me. You never know where it’s going, but you know it’s gonna be good – 4.5 stars” – Dan Condon, Double J Music Editor, on ‘NUMB. ft Remi’
“Soulful Tones, flawless delivery” – Herald Sun

I intended for this song to be an anthem for the misfits of the world; for anyone who’s ever had to dull their shine to make others comfortable. Especially those who are misfits in a space they’re meant to claim ownership of.
‘GAG ORDER ft. FRANÇOISTUNES’ is the latest single from R&B powerhouse Thando. It comes ahead of the release of her next EP “Life in Colour”, expected for release in October, successor to last year’s highly revered “Digital Love Letters”.
Being launched across a huge upcoming festival run that includes performances at WOMADelaide and Byron Bay Bluesfest, ‘GAG ORDER’ is Thando’s own powerful expression of internal and black community monologues resulting from the systematic cultural assimilation and subsequent ostracism of black lives in her community.
Listen to ‘GAG ORDER ft. FRANÇOISTUNES’ here, out March 1.
“I come in giving a nod to the current race relations in the media at the moment. It creates a powerful statement about how perceived ‘sameness’ (the result of assimilation) comes undone when it really matters, so what’s the point of doing it [assimilating] anyway?”
This one’s for anyone that’s been called ghetto
Then in 10 years, a white washed trend no stiletto
Doing everything you can just to fit in
Lose every part of yourself and they’re winning
This one’s for my black brothers lumped in the with criminal
Trivialised lives used as pawns in political tact
They make a whole people problematic
This shit is manic
Straight man made panic
“Life in Colour” will feature some of Melbourne’s best Zimbabwean artists in a tribute to Thando’s heritage; including FRANÇOISTUNES who drops in on ‘GAG ORDER’ to deliver his smooth blend of synth and hip-hop. Also highlighted on the EP will be neo-soul artist KYE, soul singer RUVA, and hip-hop artist ZIIMUSIC. Producing the record is Henry James and Ivan ‘Choi’ Khatchoyan (Cookin’ On 3 Burners).
Catch Thando’s electric performance on her incoming festival run around SA, VIC and NSW, kicking off at WOMADelaide on March 9.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
