“The Beths sound as if they’re already three albums in, playing with the musical and lyrical finesse of a much older and more experienced band.” – Paste
“The debut from Auckland indie rockers is just really impressive—hook-filled songs filled with energy and attitude, written with depth and played masterfully.” – Pitchfork
“Classic indie-pop contrast: happy-sounding songs camouflaging sad lyrics. The contrast is especially heightened live, when the Beths are boisterous and well-drilled, all tight harmonies and even-tighter playing.” – Sydney Morning Herald

THE BETHS’ ‘Future Me Hates Me’ is “one of the most impressive indie-rock debuts of the year” (Pitchfork). Its first three pressings sold out only two months after release and have tallied over 1.5 million Spotify streams. Stereogum recently named THE BETHS one of the ‘40 Best New Bands Of 2018’ and Rolling Stone is currently featuring them in their Hot Issue. While Paste has designated ‘Future Me Hates Me’ one of ‘The 50 Best Albums of 2018.’
To celebrate a banner year, THE BETHS are releasing a 7-inch featuring a moving rendition of ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ via Carpark Records and Dew Process. Recorded in three separate continents on their first proper world headline tour, THE BETHS ditched their usual, uptempo, guitar-driven numbers, for a slow- building serenade propelled by strings. The B-side, only available on the physical 7-inch, features a special demo version of ‘Future Me Hates Me’ favourite ‘Happy Unhappy.’ All profits from the 7-inch go to Girls Rock Camp Foundation.

The band is now just a few weeks away from returning to Australian shores, where they will be headlining a run of east coast rock club shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and supported by fellow Kiwis, Miss June in Sydney and Melbourne. These shows will also see THE BETHS partner with PLUS1, so that $1 from every ticket will go to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation and their work raising language, literacy and numeracy standards for Indigenous, refugee and marginalised communities in Australia. THE BETHS have continued from strength to strength since releasing ‘Future Me Hates Me’ in August. On top of their huge international acclaim, they’ve received brilliant support here in Australia, including widespread radio support from triple j, Double j, 2SER, 4ZZZ and FBI, alongside lovely words and reviews from Noisey, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Beat, and Frankie – just to name… well… a lot.
The band is currently in the midst of relaxing back home in NZ after a huge world tour across North America and Europe, as well as having recently opened for Bloc Party on their Silent Alarm New Zealand tour earlier this month. They will return to Australia for this run of shows in December, before once again heading overseas to embark on a trip across Europe supporting indie rock legends Death Cab For Cutie. After that they’ll be back in North America in February and March to headline their biggest shows yet. A full list of dates is below and tickets are on sale now.
