“[Liz Stokes] sings with humble honesty.” – The New York Times, on “Mother, Pray For Me”
“…a more insightful, introspective album than anything the band has released in the past—though Stokes’ clever lyrics are still front and center.” – A.V. Club
“They make it sound so simple. Liz Stokes is a master of the crunchy, three-minute earworm that smooshes happy and sad together into a delicious pop PB&J.” – Brooklyn Vegan
“So far we’ve heard ‘Metal’ and ‘No Joy,’ both of which are sonically upbeat and lyrically conflicted. With…’Mother, Pray For Me,’ the Auckland indie rock outfit is going full tearjerker mode.” – Stereogum

Fresh off the release of their brand-new album Straight Line Was A Lie, out now via ANTI-, New Zealand’s critically acclaimed quartet The Beths are set to return to Australia in April 2026 with their biggest headline shows yet.
Tickets on sale Friday 5th September at 9am (local) via Handsome Tours
The tour marks the band’s first Australian shows since their sold-out 2025 run, and sees Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair, and Tristan Deck stepping onto some of the country’s most iconic stages in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Existential vertigo is at the heart of their fourth record, Straight Line Was A Lie, the band’s first on ANTI-. Across ten tracks, songwriter Elizabeth Stokes explores roundabout progress, mental health battles, and fraught family ties with lyrics that are both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Written in Los Angeles and self-recorded in their hometown of Auckland, the album is The Beths’ most vulnerable and revealing body of work to date. Singles like ‘Metal’, ‘No Joy’, and ‘Mother Pray For Me’ dive into the weight of cyclical growth, while the title track ‘Straight Line Was A Lie’ threads it all together with brutal honesty.

The Beths are about to hit the road for a huge 55-date world tour, kicking off this month and bringing their new album to life across Europe, the UK, and North America.
Since forming, The Beths have risen through the indie-rock ranks with a reputation for unforgettable hooks and unflinching storytelling. They’ve supported icons like Pixies, The Breeders, The Postal Service, and Death Cab for Cutie, earned praise from Phoebe Bridgers, and graced the pages of Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NME, and more.
With festival appearances at Coachella, Primavera Sound, Newport Folk Festival, and Bonnaroo, plus millions of global streams on their breakthrough album Expert In A Dying Field (2022), The Beths have cemented themselves as one of the most vital guitar bands of their generation.
Don’t miss your chance to experience Straight Line Was A Lie live for the very first time.

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
