“Wondering’ is a song about those people that come in and out of your life and for whatever reason or regardless of how much time has passed,” explains Sarah Buckley of chart-topping Australian band The Buckleys about their new single and video (their first new music since 2022’s critically-hailed EP Take It As It Comes). “Every once in a while, you find yourself going, ‘Hmmm I wonder what happened there? I wonder what they’re doing? I wonder who they’re with. Without any big emotion – love, hate, or longing necessarily attached, you’re just kind of ‘Wondering’ (….and then wondering, why you’re wondering….and, if they’re wondering?!),” she laughs, realizing she’s caught in a conundrum.

.
“Wondering” results from an inspired but unexpected artistic matchup with producer Lachlan Bostock of acclaimed Australian band Mansionair. The creative collision combines The Buckleys’ feel-good blend of ‘70s old-school AM radio and infectious pop-country vibes and Bostock’s background of electronic-infused indie rock in a fascinating rhythmically rootsy single.
“We loved working with Lach on this song,” Sarah says excitedly. “I think what makes this collaboration so special is the fact we both come from completely different musical worlds but were really excited to explore what the other had to bring to the table. Both of us walked into our first co-writing session and were like, ‘Honestly, I have no idea or experience in your style / genre but we’re excited to create something new and fresh so let’s just go and see what happens!’,” she recalls. “I think we found a really cool and unique creative chemistry… we walked out of that first session with ‘Wondering’!” The breezy pop song propels the band forward from their previous releases – Take It As It Comes EP and their debut album Daydream (which yielded four Top 5 singles on Country Radio in their Native Australia).

Composed of siblings Sarah (vocalist/bassist), Molly (keyboards/vocals) and Lachlan (guitar), The Buckleys initially started making waves in their native Byron Bay, Australia. Cracking the Top 5 on Australian Country Radio charts in 2021, The Buckleys spread their widespread appeal across the globe. Released at the start of the COVID quarantine when touring came to a halt, the first single “Daydream” topped the Country Music Airplay Chart at #1, fostering enough steam to catch the attention of Live Nation and House of Blues who saw the band’s potential and created a groundbreaking virtual “tour” that had them livestream individual performances in North and South America, U.K., Europe, and Asia. Their momentum saw their singles race up the charts with three more singles from that album, “I’m Comin’ For Ya (Love)” at #3, “Money” (#2) and “Breathe” (#3). Their follow-up EP Take It As It Comes (2022), which was recorded at Nashville’s famed East Iris Studios with GRAMMY®-winning producer/engineer Chad Carlson (Taylor Swift, Lady A, Trisha Yearwood), repeated that chart-climb with “Oops I Love You” peaking at #5.

The press has also lavished praise on the band. American Songwriter wrote, “Every so often, something special comes along. Something so cool and authentic that the world has no choice but to sit up and take notice. The Buckleys are that special something.” Clout Magazine praises, “the trio’s charming sound and charisma fizzes with an insatiable, feel-good bounce and sense of adventure.” It’s All Indie called the band “stunning,” adding, “This is by far one of the most exciting new Country-based acts we’ve heard in a while.”
A documentary on the band’s meteoric rise and the recording of this EP debuted at the Byron Bay Film Festival in the fall of 2022 which was produced by Petrol Records and Universal Music Groups’ Oscar winning producer, Christopher Jenkins and directed by Grant James. It was dedicated to the Chairman of Petrol Records Chris Murphy who originally discovered The Buckleys when he saw something extraordinary in the emerging young artists. With his Petrol Records and Universal Music family, Chris firmly put The Buckleys on the map before sadly passing away in 2021.
The Buckleys are Sarah (bass, vocals), Molly (keyboards, vocals) and Lachlan (guitar). “Wondering” was an artistic matchup with producer and co-writer Lachlan Bostock and is out now on Petrol/Ume.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
