Lead singer Felix comments, “This song’s got a big tongue in cheek, and in many ways, it harks back to some of the first album antics. Who can afford the cost of living these days? Everything is so expensive! Really, we just wanted to have some fun with this one. After that, we added some crazier details. Like getting the Heidelberg Wind Ensemble involved, who just so happened to be rehearsing in the space we recorded the album in one night. There’s a part where our producer Andy Baldwin acts out the part of a NYC police officer on the squad car radio announcing a robbery which happened spontaneously and caused raucous late night studio laughter.” Teaming up with director Josh Harris (Gang of Youths, Missy Higgins, Peach PRC), the band infiltrate a grocery store as “employees” to conduct an ingenious heist, lapping up their spoils with a jam session on bundles of money.
On the clip Felix says, “I don’t think we’ve ever had so much fun making a video clip, it’s amazing how natural we all look as deli workers! In the context of an album that has a lot of depth and diversity, this is one of the lighter moments.”
Their forthcoming album Where The Angels Fall includes previous releases ‘Thunder Rumbles’ and ‘Rock’n’Roll’ which have garnered massive support from Double J, ABC Local Radio, landing #1 on the AMRAP Metro Charts, plus praise from NME AUS, Music Feeds, The Music, Pilerats, Rolling Stone AUS and Rage.
Celebrating Melbourne’s live music scene and the next generation of talented musicians, the band wanted to pay homage to a place where Felix & Ollie first met, sneaking into venues underage and discovering a whole world of music.
Exploring new styles and approaches while also celebrating the melting pot of international sounds coming from local artists, the forthcoming record is as ambitious as it is considered – with a list of over 30 contemporary musicians to play on the record. With a history of multiple platinum records, awards, sold out tours and over 250 million streams – The Cat Empire have officially entered their golden era.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
