Love Police Presents

THE GROWLERS

Touring In November

.

Having dropped their latest record ‘City Club’ in September of last year, California’s The Growlers will be making their way to Australia for a run of shows along the east coast. This is the band’s first Australian tour since 2015, and will see them deliver their enthralling live show once again to audiences in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Described by The AU Review as “a fine live band”, The Growlers are no stranger to the stage having taken their live show across the globe. “What’s so great about The Growlers’ live performance is how raw and distinctive Brooks’ vocals sound live, and their shared kookiness on stage,” wrote Monster Children following the band’s last stint down under. This sentiment is shared on an international scale, with Consequence of Sound (USA) remarking “Brooks Nielsen is as good a frontman as a band could ask for”. Furthermore, the band’s ability to cultivate and connect with their loyal audience is unparalleled; “The Growlers bring out the best in their fans and in turn, they do the same for The Growlers” (Volume Magazine, USA).

The Growlers will be playing songs from their latest full length release ‘City Club’ (Cult Records), which was co-produced by Julian Casablancas (The Strokes / Founder of Cult Records) and Shawn Everett (Grammy Award winner for his work with Alabama Shakes). The album was recorded early 2016 in Everett’s studio on downtown Los Angeles.

Via Costa Mesa and down into the belly of Echo Park, The Growlers are the party band that grew into a traveling circus of psychedelia that influenced Burger and Lolipop Records and even spawned their own festival, Beach Goth. It’s a zonked-out, uniquely Californian vision of bleached blond hair and drunkard culture that many bands have imitated but none have managed to reproduce. Lead singer Brooks Nielsen draws the kind of devotion among Growlers fans that Jim Morrison once did. And they’ve built their cult following without a single album review in Pitchfork.
