Before there were cat videos and Obama memes, there were real life hilarious humans, who’s only task was to induce giggles, IRL LOLs and maybe a pant-wetting or two. Imagine!

In true THAA fashion, the Hills crew are keeping it old-school, and are stoked to reveal their 2018 comedic lineup of handpicked laughter masters for 2018! Across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, punters will be able to ROFLMAO their way to the COWmedy Stage, which will play host to some of the most Hill-arious, notorious and down-right legendary comedians in Australia today.

Bob Franklin
A Hill’s comedy highlight of 2017, there’s no way Bob Franklin was getting out of THAA 2018. The one-and-only Bob Franklin is an award-winning comedian, writer, director, author and actor. Prolific in the Australian scene, Bob was a writer and performer on a handful of classics, and received an Australian Writer’s Guild nomination for ‘Introducing Garry Petty’. You’ve probably seen him on the black box on the likes of Thank God You’re Here, Talking ‘bout Your Generation and Please Like Me or the silver screen a bunch of times, for classics like Macbeth and BoyTown.

Danielle Walker
To put it lightly, Danielle Walker is a strange, if not perhaps slightly deranged girl known for her dark and twisted everyday observations and stories. In early 2016 she took out the prize in Australia’s biggest open mic competition and was named Raw Comedy National Champion. Now boasting an impressive resume, Danielle has been handpicked by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to be part of ‘The Comedy Zone’ and has gone on to appear on Comedy Up Late and Stand and Deliver, both for the ABC. You may have seen on her on ABC’s Get Krack!n or on the Just for Laughs festival lineup too.

Matt Stewart
Melbourne based slashie Matt Stewart is a comedian, writer, actor and director who has been producing the lols since ’09. He’s a founding member of the Stupid Old Man sketch group and a Company Director of comedy production house Stupid Old Studios. In his role as director, Matt works alongside some of the country’s biggest names in comedy to write and direct content for stage and screen. He copped the RAW Comedy crown in 2014 and recently completed sell-out runs at Melbourne Fringe, Perth Fringe World and Melbourne International Comedy Festival, phew!

Mr. X
Start imagining the love child of Tony Robbins, Freddy Mercury and Mother Teresa and you may start to get a pretty good idea of who Mr. X is. Inspiring people to not worry about certain death, but instead to prepare for it, and take total control of it, Mr. X’s engaging, interactive and hilariously outrageous theatrical lectures will leave audiences in pondering stitches.  The completely ego-centric, fitness obsessed, Hollywood boasting Mr. X is flying in straight from Califor-Ni-A to let Australia know why he is the leading figure in privatized euthanasia. Whether it’s helping audience members discover their power-pose position by popping-dat-pose, or inspiring people to choose their own destiny, Mr. X will ALWAYS leave people feeling enlightened.

Nick Cody
At only 30 years of age, Nick has already headlined comedy clubs all over the globe, made his US late night television debut on CONAN, performed at the invite-only Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, appeared on a bunch of televised Comedy Galas at home in Australia and played to packed houses around the world on his solo stand-up tours. He’s also been handpicked to support some of the biggest names in comedy, including international superstars Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr & Anthony Jeselnik. You may have seen him at Melbourne Comedy Festival, at one of his sold out Aus tours or even at Edinburgh Fringe, either way, he’s prolific and not one to miss at THAA 2018.

Wilson Dixon
For those of you who remember, Wilson Dixon’s set at the second ever Hills Are Alive Festival in 2010 has gone down in Hills’ folklore as one of the festivals greatest comedy moments. It’s with great delight that we welcome him back, eight years later. He’s been on the comedy circuit for almost 12 years and has taken to stages around the world. He’s released a bunch of albums on his own label, Phoo-wee Records. Mainly performing solo, Dixon sometimes hits the stage with his band Hard Cheese, including members such as Snake Wizzelteats, “Whoopsie” Daisy Rawlings, Beryl Hawkins, “Broke” Jack Mountain, Ruprect Wainwright and Earl Scrote.
