Get ready, triple j is gearing up for the Hottest 100 Weekend!
On Sunday 27 January we’ll be counting down the Hottest 100 songs of the year, as voted by you. Then on the public holiday Monday 28 January we’ll back it up with the songs that just missed out, the Hottest 200.
The celebration revolves around the songs which have made the biggest impact on the lives of hundreds of thousands of triple j listeners all over the world. You tell us your fave songs of the year, we count them down. Together, we have a very hot weekend.
If you haven’t already, it’s time to start thinking about the most ice cream-meltingly fire tracks of the past year coz the 2018 Hottest 100 kicks off next week, with voting opening at 8am Monday 10 December. Then you have until 9am Tuesday 22 January to have your say on the hottest songs of the year.
For this year’s Hottest 100, triple j is teaming up with Lifeline, the leading provider of crisis support and suicide prevention in Australia.
Earlier this year you told us that mental health is the biggest issue affecting young people right now. In fact, suicide is the biggest killer of young Australians: in 2017 it accounted for over one-third (36%) of deaths among 15-24s.
Every year, Lifeline receives around one million calls, text messages and web chats, but currently can’t get to all of them. With money raised through the Hottest 100, Lifeline hope to make it possible for their trained volunteers to reach around 4,000 more calls; to listen, provide connection, compassion and hope – ultimately saving Australian lives.
To help Lifeline reach their goal, you can donate anytime, or snag one of our collectable Hottest 100 x Lifeline ice cream t-shirts. The cost of one t-shirt is equivalent to the average cost of answering one Lifeline phone call, so every t-shirt you buy could help save a life.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
