Presented by STACKThe Living End have today released their first new album in eight years, ‘I Only Trust Rock n Roll’ (BMG), and we can confirm that the lauded punk rock trio are as passionate as ever!
With a 25+ year legacy propelling them forward, The Living End have created their most locked-and-loaded statement to date, giving us their much-loved blend of rockabilly and punk built on a 50s foundation of great rock music.
The Living End have never been short on opinions, or the guts to say them loud and this ninth studio album is no different.
Lead singer Chris Cheney said, “I feel like the last 5 years has been the strangest of times for the whole planet. There were many events during the writing of this record when I questioned the direction the world is heading. I found it frustrating, but it led me to start writing songs that jumped out of the speakers in a way that our previous few records perhaps haven’t. Musically we’ve reconnected with the energy of our punk rock roots and lyrically it doesn’t hold back from stating exactly how we feel about the uncertain times we live in. The decision was unanimous that we wanted to make a record that really f**king rocks.”
The eleven new songs include the already released ‘Misery’, ‘Alfie’, ‘Strange Place’ and the title track, alongside ‘Roller’ a roaring blast of working-week emancipation, a deeper and darker dive on ‘Private Hell’, the toxicity of online keyboard warriors on ‘Rain the Parade’, with a punk rock love song in ‘Don’t Tell Me’, a request for compassion and respect on ‘Public Holiday’, before a comment on the new world of influencers on ‘Camera’ and the literal gypsy life of ‘Gypsy Blood’.
The album was recorded with renowned producer Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Silverchair) in Byron Bay in February 2024. Shirley captured the band in fully evolved form, with their youthful fire sharpened by decades of songwriting craft and stage chemistry.
Three more songs were added at Melbourne’s Sing Sing Studios: crucial songs for nailing the album’s sustained rage against a world gone wrong.
The album release is being celebrated with Q&A events along the east coast of Australia next week. Tickets for the exclusive events are on sale now here
The Q&A is set up for fans to directly ask questions of the band that they’ve always wanted to know but never had the chance to find out and will be followed by an opportunity for album/merch signing.
The album release will be followed by a national tour, starting on November 8 with sold out shows in Brisbane and Adelaide.
The band will play two huge sets every night: the first set will see them play select tracks from the new ‘I Only Trust Rock n Roll’ album, plus play the full swag of hits that have made them household names over the last three decades – ‘White Noise’, ‘Roll On’, ‘Who’s Gonna Save Us’ and more.
The second set will take fans back to where it all started with the band playing their iconic, multi-platinum self-

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
