THE RUBENS
release fifth studio album
SODA
.

“The album blends polished alt-rock grooves with hints of synths and electronics… SODA showcases the band’s ongoing evolution and invites further experimentation” – Rolling Stone Australia
By their fifth album, some bands hit creative gold; some hit the autopilot button. With the release of SODA today, Sydney five piece The Rubens serve up their most compelling album to date.
Alongside the album release, the band also launch their 14 date Australian tour with a sold-out show at Forth Pub in Tasmania, ahead of shows across the country taking in both metro and regional stops. They recently announced a second show for fans in Melbourne, after the sell-out of the first.

Within the inviting world of SODA, you’ll find love songs to drug dealers. Guitars that sound like synths. Vocals that sound like robots. Pop songs that are subversive but still seductive. It’s the kind of record only a band of brothers (three sharing actual DNA; all sharing a deep bond stretching back nearly 15 years) could conjure. All from the home studio they set up in an WWII bunker.
“We got to Soda through each record before it. We’re proud of them and even more proud of this one.” – The Rubens
SODA includes ‘Black Balloon’, ‘Liquid Gold’, ‘Good Mood’, ‘Pets and Drugs’, ‘Sunday Night’ and ‘Death Is A Friend’ – and sees The Rubens continuing to define and refine their sound while remaining increasingly experimental. Songs from the album have been played across triple j, Triple M and the Hit Network and enjoyed an impressive range of adds to rock, pop and indie playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and YouTube.

A much-loved local act who has stood the test of time, The Rubens have four Top 3 ARIA Albums to their name. They also took out the #1 spot of triple j’s Hottest 100 with ‘Hoops’ (5 x Platinum) and have 9x Platinum and Gold singles, with hits including ‘Live In Life’ (4 x platinum), ‘Never Ever (feat. Sarah)’ (3 x platinum), ‘God Forgot’ (Platinum) and Masterpiece (Platinum). They have sold over 34,000 tickets nationally across 42 shows this year and recently performed to a crowd of 50,000 NRL fans in Brisbane. They also took on triple j’s Like A Version with a breathtaking rendition of Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’ last month.
It is perfect timing that right now, with more eyes and ears fixed on them than ever, The Rubens are dropping their most creative album to date with the refreshing SODA.
Fans outside of Australia should stay tuned, The Rubens will be announcing their biggest global tour to date soon. The tour will see them heading to the UK, Europe, Canada and the US early next year.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
