Iconic hit making sisters, The Veronicas, return with Gothic Summer, their first international album release in 10 years. After a much needed disconnect, Lisa and Jessica Origliasso soon found themselves in the throes of an unexpected 6th album. Gothic Summer was born.
“Gothic Summer is about alternative realities, its more subconsciously motivated and metaphorical than our previous records,” said the duo on their latest release. “It’s a dark comedy, a lot like life – we laugh, so we don’t cry.”
Produced by longtime collaborator, friend and Big Noise label-head John Feldmann, the album finds Jess and Lisa confronting speculation and drama (‘Here to Dance’), toxic obsession (‘Detox’), the pressures of living in a social culture that is never satiated (‘Perfect’) and more. To create their most adventurous project yet, The Veronicas tapped a modern-day A-list roll call of pop/rock juggernauts including Travis Barker, Sierra Deaton, Ryan Linville (Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan), Zhone (Troye Sivan, Kim Petras) and Chris Collins (Royal Otis, Matt Corby) who Jess and Lisa challenged to explore outside of each of the collaborator’s usual musical style.
A collaboration that may come as a surprise to listeners happens in Track 4 of the album, ‘Savage’ featuring Aussie hip hop’s anti-hero Kerser. Lyrically, it paints a vivid sonic canvas using betrayal and disappointment as brushes. When you step back, all that’s left to look at are someone’s true colours.
Speaking on the unexpected collaboration, Jess says, “We’ve been big fans of Kerser; he speaks to a different part of Australian culture than we do. To collaborate with someone who’s been at the forefront of Australian hip hop for 20 years is a huge honour for us. He also had our backs in a personal situation. While most people are all talk, he’s a real one. People like that are rare, especially in this industry. We have a huge amount of love and respect for him.”
Available now via Big Noise Music Group, Gothic Summer marks a significant milestone for the duo. Known for their dynamic vocals and fearless approach to songwriting, The Veronicas’ newest body of work pushes boundaries and challenges conventions. From dance floor anthems to 60s & 70s surf rock influence, Gothic Summer showcases the duo’s versatility, evolution and enduring pop star power.
Before returning to the U.S. for a 22-date Headline Tour, The Veronicas are throwing a launch party for Gothic Summer tonight at Crow Bar, Sydney. Tickets are available at theveronicas.com/tour.

About THE VERONICAS
Named “the ultimate pop-punk duo of the mid-aughts” by Nylon, The Veronicas have long been recognised for their famed blueprint in songwriting and career of multi-platinum studio albums which expertly balance vulnerability with a bit of rebellion. The hitmaking duo first emerged in 2005 with their now 4x ARIA-certified platinum, debut album The Secret Life of…, which featured hit singles such as ‘4ever’ and ‘Everything I’m Not.’ In 2007, they released their critically acclaimed, sophomore album Hook Me Up, which lauded their first international top-ten hit ‘Untouched.’ After a hiatus, the duo returned with their self-titled third studio album in 2014. In 2024, the duo will unveil their newest full-length body of work. Titled Gothic Summer, the long-awaited project, which is their first international release in 10 years, finds the duo centred in their creativity as they embrace introspection and challenge societal pressures, shining a light on the truth beneath pop music’s shimmering surface. My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
