If beautiful people ruin The Wombats’ lives, the resulting album will make your year. Peaking at #5 on the ARIA Album Chart and #2 on the Australian iTunes Album Chart, the album has since been streamed over 80 million times on Spotify, withover 7.3 million Spotify streams in Australia alone. The band’s most recent single Turn was also Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 and received heavy rotation on UK radio. Turn peaked at #5 on the Australian iTunes Alternative Chart and has amassed over 2.5 million local streams. Previous singles Lemon To A Knife Fight and Cheetah Tongue also fared well; with Lemon… amassing over 3.5 million local streams and Cheetah Tongue amassing over 2.2 million local streams.
After a sold-out UK and European tour, The Wombats have gone on to lay waste to crowds across the globe, with performances at Reading & Leeds Festival, Isle Of Wight Festival, Y Not?, Glasgow Summer Series (supporting Kings Of Leon) and extensive North American dates in support of Weezer and The Pixies. The band will soon step things up on the live front yet again, with their highest profile and biggest UK headline tour to date – further cementing the band’s status as one of the UK’s biggest guitar acts.
Most excitingly, the band will embark on another run of Australian shows in November, following on from their sold-out Australian tour in July, which included a performance at Splendour in the Grass. With no signs of slowing down, 2018 has been a phenomenal, ground-breaking year for The Wombats.
