Sydney electronic production duo, This Week In The Universe, today share their latest single “On The Run” featuring KYVA. In addition, the pair reveal the tracklist from their forthcoming EP, Everything is What We Thought It Was – out later this year on Friday, September 1.
A compendium of forward-thinking collaborations between local and international artists, Everything is What We Thought It Was is the duo’s latest EP and addition to their cinematic synth-pop cosmos. “On The Run” accompanies the EP’s previous singles, “As The World Burns” featuring hip-hop heavyweight, Substantial and “Weightless” starring Wallace. Revealed today, the EP will feature other guests including Sydney-based singer songwriter Odette, Swedish-born brooding pop singer Mila Nile, and the experimental, American bassist, MonoNeon.
A sparkling and rippling slice of psychedelia-tinged funk, electronic and soul, “On The Run” features the vocals of The Goods frontman, KYVA. Recorded in Sydney, the song bumps and bounces to synth runs, whirls and flourishes, as the power and soul of KYVA’s vocals drive an instant melody. Dynamic and full-bodied, “On The Run” spotlights the impressive and clever production talents of This Week In The Universe.

This Week In The Universe say, “‘On the Run’ is classic TWITU. We feel that it’s got a lot of the hallmarks of our production style and really shows what we’re all about. We’ve known Kyle (KYVA) for a few years, mainly as a member of soul/electronic act The Goods who we’re good mates with and we knew his voice and vibe would be perfect for this track. A lot of the collaborations on our upcoming EP happened remotely with artists based in the USA, UK and NZ but this was a really big vibe as we wrote and recorded it together all in our space in Sydney. This one was truly a shared vision that the three of us fleshed out together.”
This Week In The Universe are composed of brothers Beau and Casey Golden. Growing up, their combined love for 80s film music and vintage synths led to the sonic DNA on which their music rests. The duo were featured heavily on Daniel Johns album FutureNever, and as producers, have worked across releases from Ruel, M-Phazes, Lily Allen, Claptone, Vera Blue and more. Their latest rotation of singles followed their debut 2019 album Tellurian, and previous collaborations on singles, “Light Years” feat. David Binney & Golds and “Distance” feat. Ric Rufio, and have enjoyed radio support from triple j, FBi Radio and additions from Rage and MTV.
