. . . . . . . . . . . My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences. Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”. Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook. Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere. This week’s
ARIA CHARTSDebuts dominate as DMA’s score #2
Private Function, Melanie Martinez, Boygenius and more enter the Charts
Sydney three-piece, DMA’s, make a #2 debut in today’s ARIA Albums Chart with How Many Dreams? While Melanie Martinez debuts in the top spot and Boygenius – the Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus supergroup – take #3.
How Many Dreams? marks the fourth studio album from DMA’s, comprised of Tommy O’Dell, Matt Mason and Johnny Took. They previously peaked at #2 with The Glow in 2020, while 2018’s For Now reached #7 and 2016’s Hills End reached #8.
American singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez, who first rose to fame in 2012 on The Voice, takes #1 this week with her latest album Portals. It’s Martinez’s first #1 in Australia after K-12 peaked at #6 in 2019 and Cry Baby reached #27 in 2015.
Rounding out the top 3 is Boygenius’ debut album, The Record, which represents an Australian peak for each of the group’s three members after Phoebe Bridgers reached #12 with Punisher in 2020 and Julien Baker hit #21 with Little Oblivions in 2021.
Melbourne punk band Private Function land just outside the top 10 at #11, with the debut of their fourth album 370HSSV 0773H. It is their second album to chart with Whose Line Is It Anyway? reaching #9 in 2020.
The band are taking the album on the road and across the country from 11 May, having made several headlines for the creative use of bodily excrement in the ‘gold’ version of 370HSSV 0773H’s vinyl release; as well as their release of the first 3,000 vinyls with a scratchie cover, the winner of which will have their face printed on every album pressing to follow. 370HSSV 0773H currently sits at 2 on the Vinyls Chart. Turn the album name upside down if you’re interested.
Miley Cyrus’ Flowers joins an elite club over on the Singles Chart, reaching 12 weeks at #1 and tying with three other songs that have spent three months on top: Pharrell Williams’ Happy in 2014, Eminem’s Lose Yourself in 2002-03 and Dinah Shore’s Buttons and Bows in 1949. Only eight songs have spent more than 12 weeks at #1, with the champion being Tones and I’s Dance Monkey at 24 weeks on top in 2019-20.
The #1 single of 2022, Harry Styles’ As It Was returns to the top 10 at #5 in its 53rd week on the chart.
Finally, BLACKPINK member Jisoo lands at #33 for her debut solo single Flower. She is the third member of the K-Pop powerhouse to reach the top 50 here: in 2021, Rosé peaked at #31 with On The Ground and Lisa reached #32 with Money.
