Album Highlights: 

#1: Huskii ‘Antihero’ – Wollongong-born, Sydney-based rapper Huskii scores his first ever #1 on the ARIA Charts as he debuts in the top spot with Antihero. It’s the hip hop artist’s debut album, following the release of three EPs: Recalled (2020), Brainumb (2017) and Barely Awake & Paranoid (2016). Huskii has also previously collaborated with Chillinit on the EP 4 Days and the album Family Ties (#5 Dec. ’21). Antihero is the first Australian #1 album on the ARIA Charts in 2022.

On receiving news of his #1, Huskii said “Antihero is #1 on the charts! I owe everything to my fans. Thank you for coming out and supporting. Love yas.”

ARIA Chief Executive Officer, Annabelle Herd, said: “I am thrilled to congratulate Huskii on his first ARIA #1 in this week’s Albums Chart, and for being our first Australian #1 of the year. Huskii’s achieved an incredible feat for an artist who has never appeared on the chart before, proving the Australian music business is still alive, well and constantly surfacing fresh talent. I can’t wait to see which other homegrown artists will top the chart this year.”

#6: alt-J ‘The Dream’ – Returning with their fourth album, The Dream, British indie trio alt-J take out their fourth ARIA Top Ten. The new album comes nearly five years on from Relaxer (#4 Jun. ’17). 2022 also marks ten years since the band released their debut album, An Awesome Wave (#9 Feb. ’13). The Dreamhas debuted at #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#8: Eddie Vedder ‘Earthling’ – Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder debuts at #8 with Earthling. Vedder’s third solo album is his first in a decade, following on from Ukulele Songs (#6 Jun. ’11). Earthling includes performances by Ringo Starr, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and former RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

#19: Big Thief ‘Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You’ – American indie rock band Big Thief hit the ARIA Top 50 for the first time as they debut at #19 with Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You. The quartet’s fifth album is the follow-up to 2019’s Two Hands, which gave them their highest peaks in the UK and US, as well as peaking at #99 in Australia.

#31: Labrinth ‘Euphoria: Season 1 (Music From The Original Series)’ – British singer, songwriter, rapper and producer Labrinth claims his first solo Albums Chart entry in almost a decade, debuting at #31 with Euphoria: Season 1 (Music From The Original Series), the soundtrack to the hit American TV show. Labrinth received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his work in Euphoria; Outstanding Music Composition for a Series and Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics for the song ‘All for Us’. He also won an Ivor Novello Award for Best Television Soundtrack. Labrinth’s only other solo appearance on the chart was with his debut album Electronic Earth (#30 Mar. ’13). Labrinth has also previously charted with the collaborative album Labrinth, Sia & Diplo Present… LSD (#49 Apr. ’19).

Singles Highlights:

#1: Elton John & Dua Lipa ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ – After three weeks at #2, Elton John and Dua Lipa’s collaboration ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ returns to claim a ninth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It’s now three weeks ahead of ‘Something About The Way You Look Tonight’ / ‘Candle In The Wind 1997’ (#1 Sept. ’97) as the legendary singer-songwriter’s longest reign at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart.

#11: Ed Sheeran ‘The Joker And The Queen’ – Debuting at #11 this week, ‘The Joker And The Queen’ becomes the seventh track to chart from Ed Sheeran’s album = (#1 Nov. ’21). The track’s debut comes on the back of the release of a new version featuring pop superstar Taylor Swift. It’s the fourth official single to be lifted from = after ‘Bad Habits’ (#1 Jul. ’21), ‘Shivers’ (#2 Nov. ’21) and ‘Overpass Graffiti’ (#8 Nov. ’21). ‘Shivers’ and ‘Bad Habits’ reside at #6 and #8, respectively, on this week’s chart.

#17: Frank Ocean ‘Lost’ – The climb of Frank Ocean’s 2012 track ‘Lost’ continues. This week it’s up five spots to a new peak at #17. Originally appearing on Ocean’s debut album channel ORANGE (#9 Feb. ’13), ‘Lost’ has gained traction in recent times thanks to TikTok where it’s been used in more than 216,600 videos.

#28: Tate McRae ‘She’s All I Wanna Be’ – Canadian artist Tate McRae climbs eight spots to #20 in the second week on the chart with ‘She’s All I Wanna Be’. She first appeared on the chart with ‘You Broke Me First’ (#7 Nov. 20), which spent 48 weeks in the Top 50.

#31: Dove Cameron ‘Boyfriend’ – American singer and actress Dove Cameron makes her ARIA Singles Chart debut at #31 with the track ‘Boyfriend’. Cameron is best known for appearing in the Disney Channel comedy series Liv and Maddie, as well as in the Descendants film series. She also performed on the soundtracks of the Descendants series, including Descendants 3 (#36 Aug. ’19).
