Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Olivia Rodrigo ‘Drivers License’ – For the fifth consecutive week, American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo holds the #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Drivers License’. The song remains on top of the charts in several countries like the UK and US.

#4: Tiësto ‘The Business’ – In its sixth week in the Top 50, Tiësto’s ‘The Business’ moves up four spots to hit a new peak at #4. It becomes the Dutch DJ/producer’s highest-charting single in Australia.

#7: The Weeknd ‘Save Your Tears’ – Climbing eleven spots to #7, ‘Save Your Tears’ becomes the third single from The Weeknd’s album After Hours (#1 Mar. ’20) to hit the Top Ten after ‘Heartless’ (#10 Dec. ’19) and ‘Blinding Lights’ (#1 Jan. ’20). ‘Blinding Lights’ remains in the ARIA Singles Chart at #13 and it topped the 2020 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart.

#20: Cardi B ‘Up’ – Cardi B follows chart-topper ‘WAP’ (#1 Aug. ’20) with ‘Up’. It’s the second single from the American rap star’s forthcoming second album. ‘WAP’ spent six straight weeks in the top spot, going on to sit at #19 on the 2020 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart. This week, ‘WAP’ is at #28 in its 27th week in the Top 50.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Foo Fighters ‘Medicine At Midnight’ – Returning with Medicine At Midnight, Foo Fighters take out their eighth Australian #1. The tenth studio album from the American rock veterans becomes their seventh straight to reach #1, joining U2, Taylor Swift and The 12th Man, who have achieved the same feat; only Eminem has had a longer run of #1 studio albums, wracking up nine in a row. Medicine At Midnight also gives the band the #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart this week.

Foo Fighters have previously hit #1 with the studio albums One By One (#1 Oct. ‘02), In Your Honor (#1 Jun. ‘05), Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (#1 Oct.  ‘07), Wasting Light (#1 Apr. ‘11), Sonic Highways (#1 Nov. ‘14) and Concrete And Gold (#1 Sept. ‘17), as well as the compilation Greatest Hits (#1 Nov. ‘09).

#2: The Weeknd ‘The Highlights’ – The Weeknd debuts at #2 with the career retrospective The Highlights. The compilation’s release coincides with the Canadian star’s SuperBowl half time performance, which took place earlier in the week. The Highlights includes tracks from the #1 albums Beauty Behind The Madness (Sept. ’15), Starboy (Dec. ’16) and After Hours (Mar. ’20), as well as material from various EPs and soundtracks. After Hours also moves up to #15 this week, up from #24.

#4: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets ‘Shyga! The Sunlight Mound’ – Perth’s Psychedelic Porn Crumpets score their first ARIA Top Ten appearance as they hit the chart at #4 with Shyga! The Sunlight Mound. The fourth album from the five-piece is their second to chart following And Now For The Whatchamacallit(#31 Jun. ’19). Shyga! The Sunlight Mound is #2 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#5: Kate Ceberano ‘Sweet Inspiration’ – Kate Ceberano returns to the ARIA Top Five for the first time since Nine Lime Avenue (#4 May ’07) as she debuts at #5 with Sweet Inspiration. The Australian music icon’s 28th career album is her first solo album since Kensal Road (#23 Aug. ’13), having collaborated with Steve Kilbey, Paul Grabowsky and more in the intervening years. It becomes Ceberano’s first Top Ten studio album since So Much Beauty (#9 May ’08) and her seventh Top Ten overall. Kate Ceberano last charted with the compilation Anthology (#9 May ’16). Her highest chart peak to date was with Brave (#2 Aug.’89).
