Slipknot tightens grip on #1

Slipknot.

Masked metal outfit Slipknot take #1 on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart, while Sam Smith and Kim Petras keep the top spot on the Singles Chart.

Slipknot have achieved their fourth #1 debut on the ARIA Albums Chart with The End, So Far, their seventh studio album. The nine-piece band’s previous #1 debuts were for .5: The Gray Chapter, All Hope Is Gone and We Are Not Your Kind.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs make a welcome return after nine years with Cool It Down, cracking the top 20 albums at #19, while on the Singles Chart, Sam Smith and Kim Petras hold #1 for the second week with Unholy and the passing of Coolio sees his three-time platinum hit Gangsta’s Paradise return to the charts at #22.

All five of the top albums on the Vinyl Albums Chart make debuts this week, with Slipknot being beaten to #1 by Denzel Curry’s Melt My Eyes See Your Future, and the reissue of George Michael’s 1996 album Older coming in at #4.
