Following the highly anticipated release of his debut album last year, Adelaide’s critically-acclaimed talent Timberwolf (aka Christopher Panousakis) is today extending his new musical direction with a passionate and powerful single “Proud Silence”. The track and accompanying video gleams from start to finish with emotive explorations of inner conflicts, calling out an important message behind speaking up no matter how hard it might be. To celebrate, Timberwolf will be bringing his awe-inspiring vocals to a run of immersive live shows around the country, commencing this September.

“Proud Silence” is a prime example of Timberwolf’s otherworldly talent. Both produced and recorded by Panousakis himself, the powerful new single couples euphoric vocals with emphatic basslines reflecting Timberwolf’s personal philosophising between a proud, silent exterior and the emotions that lay beneath. Gliding alongside expressive, echoing guitar chords, his soulful hums mimic the closed lips of a very proud silence. Striking keys from Sydney musician Bree Tranter, whose resume boasts work alongside Matt Corby and The Middle East, combined with Timberwolf’s escalating synths and tender vocals matching the purest of lyricism will have you mesmerized from start to finish. The melodies ooze emotion and simultaneous strength behind an acknowledgement that the more we speak, the easier it becomes. The honest and transparent listen showcases Timberwolf’s gift as a connoisseur of authentic songwriting and dynamic musical production.

Timberwolf on ‘Proud Silence’: “I feel now like my goal-posts have shifted and I’m chasing something else in my writing. One thing for certain is my life and the lives of people I love look very different to how they did even eight months ago. So I’ve been holding off until I wrote a song that reflected this. Not just a ‘good’ song, or a ‘catchy’ song, or an ‘honest’ song, this one had to feel relevant for me.”

Accompanying the release of his new single, Timberwolf has announced a national tour where fans will be treated to his majestic live show at some of the country’s most beloved and intimate venues. Kicking off at Adelaide’s Crown & Anchor on Thursday 27 September, Timberwolf takes a small break before returning to Melbourne for a show upstairs at the Gasometer Hotel on Friday 23 November. Following that, he’ll head to Thirroul’s Record Store on Thursday 6 December, before finishing at WaywardsSydney on Friday 7 December.

Unrestrained by genre, Timberwolf’s captivating new single carries on from his stunning debut album Íkaros. The record’s mesmerising selection of tracks, represents the singer/songwriter’s diverse inspirations, compelling musical direction and simple approaches to writing. Íkaros featured triple j and community radio favourites “Hold You Up” and “Washed Out”, collectively clocking over 1.4 million streams on Spotify, were featured as The AU Review’s Single of the Day and landed Timberwolf support duties for Amy Shark’s sold out national tour. Since emerging in 2015 with debut EP Flux, Timberwolf has pushed boundaries with his unique and crafty compositions, securing himself a well-deserved national fanbase.

On the stage Timberwolf has played to sold-out crowds across the country at Groovin The Moo, WOMADelaide, Big Pineapple, BIGSOUND and Woodford Folk Festival, as well as supported the likes of Lime Cordiale and The Teskey Brothers on both their national tours alongside appearances at Adelaide’s Root Down and Rockhampton’s One Hot Night festivals. Having previously taken out Best Songwriter, Best Male Artist and Experimental Music awards at South Australian Music Awards, Timberwolf is one of Australia’s brightest and most engaging artists. Now back with a string of mesmerising shows paired with a thought-provoking piece to stop you in your tracks, Timberwolf is bound for another exceptional year ahead.  Don’t miss your chance to see this commanding artist in his element before the year is out.
