Multiple award winner, icon and national treasure Tina Arena (AM) returns with her first new music offering in over five years, and her first ever independent release. “Church” sets the tone for a series of singles to be released by Arena this year and the beginning of a new chapter of her incredible career.
“Church” is a return to Arena’s roots – a powerful song that showcases her unmistakable voice. Emotionally rich, fearless and inspiring, confessional and redeeming, this is the sound of a world-class artist genuinely liberated, musically and creatively, for the first time in years.
The single was recorded last year with some of her closest friends in a tiny church in Sweden, with Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor on guitar and Swedish powerhouse Mattias Lindblom in the producer’s seat. Despite the name, the song is not deep in religious undertones, but more an empowering anthem for Arena’s journey towards her next musical chapter.

Writing in her personal journals throughout the process, Arena scribed “this is the first time I’ve felt genuinely liberated …. Both creatively and musically. I will no longer compromise more than I care to acknowledge. I’m no longer fearful in my artistic expressions…I’m ready to accept what comes with open arms”.
A fierce advocate for positive change within the arts industry, now more than ever, Tina’s voice is incredibly relevant – an inspiration for a new generation of female artists.
With 100 million streams, 10 million records sold worldwide, multiple ARIA awards, 2 world music awards, an ALMA award, 12 studio albums, 4 live albums, 4 compilations, 45 singles, 36 music videos and a best-selling autobiography under her belt, Tina has no plans to slow down. Her presence continues to shape the Australian musical landscape, with her music delicately weaved into the fabric of our nation’s cultural identity.
