TIRED LION Release New Video For ‘Cinderella Dracula’
+ Australian Club Tour Kicks Off This Week
+ Touring With Dune Rats In June
“Bewitching, brilliant and full of purpose.” – Upset Magazine
“Tired Lion have slowly transformed into one of Australia’s most promising punk acts.” – Rolling Stone Australia
“Delicate and gentle one moment to brutal and violent the next.” – Bombshellzine
With a national tour set to kick off this week to celebrate the release of their massive new single ‘Cinderella Dracula,’ Perth rockers Tired Lion today release the spectacularly colourful and chaotic video for the track.
The clip follows a young girl working her way through a hectic house party filled with weirdos and cliques – bros, burnouts, goody-two-shoes and frisky exhibitionists. And all the while Tired Lion deliver a thundering performance of the breakout track that has been dominating the alt airwaves since its release in March.
“For ‘Cinderella Dracula’ we were stoked to be working with Mastu and Jess again,” says Tired Lion guitarist Matt Tanner, speaking of director Matsu and producer Jess Parker. “We’d just come back from Paris and jumped straight into the studio to film and walked into people jumping through walls and basically having a huge party. It was a pretty sick way to conquer jet lag.”
‘Cindererlla Dracula’ is the first taste of what we can expect from Tired Lion’s debut album, which is set for release later this year and was produced by Violent Soho’s Luke Boerdam. The pairing of talents between Boerdam with the Perth four-piece – songwriter and frontwoman Sophie Hopes, lead guitarist Tanner, bassist Nick Vasey and drummer Ethan Darnell, as well as their long time engineer Dave Parkin – has already been championed by the likes of Triple J as being “too good to be true” and by Tone Deafsaying, “expectations have just shot through the roof”. Rolling Stone went so far as to name it as one of their Top 50 Most Anticipated Albums of the Year.
And ‘Cinderella Dracula’ has already seen fans raving for the band’s huge new sonic capabilities, as well as connecting with the raw and emotional songwriting that Hopes continues to bring to the table. Like the band’s two massive singles of 2016 ‘Not My Friends’ and ‘Agoraphobia’, ‘Cinderella Dracula’ again sees her take inspiration from personal torment and pain and twist it into rock’s immeasurable gain – connecting with fans on a visceral level on the one hand, and driving them to mosh like maniacs on the other.
2017 is undoubtedly destined be Tired Lion’s biggest year yet. Alongside the release of their debut LP and this upcoming national tour, the band is again set to return to the UKand Europe to play festivals and headline shows, including appearances at the massive and internationally renowned Reading and Leeds festivals, as well as Spain’s Primavera.
They’re also set to support Brisbane party punks Dune Rats on their huge ‘F*ck Yeah Ledge Yew!’ tour, starting June 9 and running through to early July. Ticket links and info are below.
