Tom West is a singer-songwriter renowned for his forthcoming style and the honesty behind his storytelling and music. Sharing perspectives on the world around us from silent wilderness to big cities, red eye flights, coffee shop strangers & late night encounters under neon lights – adventures often photographed through a vintage 35mm lens. Raised among the rolling hills and surf worn coasts outside Adelaide, he was until recently based in Brooklyn, New York, however he’s currently back in Australia while the world calms down and will be releasing his new record Antarctica on 19th June via AntiFragile Music.
Antarctica was written during a period after his father died from motor neurone disease. Tom ended up going on a 3 year journey pounding the pavement in the United States, touring, couch surfing, taking overnight greyhound busses to and from shows, sleeping in stations, and playing as often as possible. Things took a turn in March when he ended up going to hospital in Milwaukee after getting attacked by a husky before a gig, shows began to cancel, then, days later, having to suddenly leave New York, where he was living, as the pandemic was breaking. Then, picking up the pieces to make up for lost income by crowdfunding the completion of the record on time!

The new album was produced by Allen Tate in studios around Brooklyn, NY and was mixed & mastered by Grammy nominated Tyler McDiarmid who works producing live sound for SNL.
Originally planned as a 4 track EP that could reflect the songs Tom was performing live at the time in a studio recorded context, the opportunity to expand on the original handful of songs arose following discussions with Antifragile Music in mid 2019. The album drew together a wider collection of songs, many derived from personal experiences, and written, during West’s travels while touring.
Tom discusses, “I certainly didn’t set out to create a record incorporating such personal stories: if anything it feels like the album kind of manifested itself out through my writing and guitar without me realizing until it was much too late.”
With over 5 million streams on Spotify, supporting major acts like Newton Faulkner and securing sets at the Philadelphia Folk Fest 2018, Porchland Fest 2019 and Official SXSW 2020 (cancelled), Tom is determined to come back after COVID 19 with powerful new material for his prodigious live shows.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
