Australian breakout artist Tones And I continues to dominate the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with her ARIA accredited triple Platinum song ‘Dance Monkey’ now equalling the record for 9 consecutive weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for an Australian Artist, bringing her in line with Justice Crew’s 2014 release ‘Que Sera’, the longest running Number One single by an Australian act since the ARIA Charts began in 1988.
This week also sees ‘Dance Monkey’ hit the #1 spot on The Music Network’s Hot 100 Airplay Chart after 18 weeks. This makes Tones And I only the second Australian Artist this year after Guy Sebastian to achieve this incredible feat.
Tones And I is the first Australian artist this year to claim #1 and the first Australian female solo artist since 2015 to reach the coveted top spot. Tones And I has gone from busking in Byron Bay to topping the charts globally in a matter of months, with ‘Dance Monkey’ amassing over 210 million streams globally to date. Internationally, ‘Dance Monkey’ is #7 on the Official UK Charts this week, has hit the #1 position in 11 countries plus is accredited Gold in New Zealand, Denmark and Sweden, and Platinum in Ireland.

Today Tones And I kicked off the Virgin Australia Pre-Game Show at the 2019 AFL Grand Final with incredible performances of ‘The Kids Are Coming’ and ‘Dance Monkey’. Surrounding her satellite stage with kids in what is becoming ‘The Kids Are Coming’ uniforms, Tones And I wowed the crowd from the first note she sang both at the MCG and watching at home.
Tones And I released her debut EP THE KIDS ARE COMING on August 30th, available now on all streaming platforms on Bad Batch Records via Sony Music Entertainment Australia [artwork / track list below]. THE KIDS ARE COMING debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart upon release. This week saw Tones And I sharing an official music video for ‘The Kids Are Coming’. Directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz (Blood Orange, Solange, Maggie Rogers), the video clip is streaming now above.
Tones And I recently kicked off her sold-out Australian headline tour, which is set continue through mid-October and will see Tones And I performing at sold out venues around the country. Later this fall, Tones And I will head overseas for her first ever European headline tour which is also completely sold-out. The dates include shows in Berlin, Cologne, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and London [see itinerary below]. Following the European run, Tones And I will make her highly anticipated US debut with sold-out performances at New York City’s Mercury Lounge and Los Angeles’ El Cid.
