This morning, Brooke Boney announced that she’ll be wrapping up her time on triple j Breakfast at the end of this year. We’re sad to see her go, but stoked for her as she moves on to make exciting new content across other parts of the ABC.

For the past two years, Brooke has kept the nation informed as triple j Breakfast’s resident news presenter (who’s so good she can read the news with a freakin’ Galah on her shoulder) and has been the voice of reason for Brekkie boys Ben & Liam on numerous occasions. This year she made a special mark on the morning news bulletin by weaving in some of her Indigenous culture bystarting every bulletin saying ‘Yaama’, which translates to ‘Hello’ in Gamilaroi – the language of her people in Northern New South Wales.

Brooke says “I’m really going to miss waking up with all of you and my lovely mates Ben and Liam but I’m super excited to be working on some new stuff across other parts of the ABC! I have always been a triple j listener and (like many of you) feel like it formed a big part of who I am today, so it’s been a real honour.”

Excitingly, Alice Matthews joins the triple j Breakfast team as our news guru in 2019. You may already be familiar with Alice as a triple j newsreader and Hack reporter, but if you aren’t, she’s a formidable journalist who grew up in Canberra and is the proud owner of a goddamn Walkley Award, which she received in 2015 for Young Journalist of the Year (Radio). We’ll see you bright and early next year, Alice.

After five years of working at triple j, we say farewell to our House Party host and vibe-curator KLP. She has brought the energy to Saturday nights on triple j with non-stop party mixes and mash-up mayhem and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

KLP says “Five years flies when you’re having a ball partying with Australia every Saturday night! I grew up listening to triple j and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would one day be the host of a show that is full of so much music and good energy. While I love being on the radio, writing and performing music of my own has always been my number one love, and I’ve decided to step back so I have more time to focus on that. I’ve been working away on some exciting releases that I can’t wait to share with you in 2019!”

Double J’s Stu Buchanan and his show Fat Planet are moving – in 2019 you can catch Stu chatting about new music from around the world as a segment on Double J Arvos with Tim Shiel.

triple j will announce a new House Party presenter and Double J will announce two new programs in early 2019 – stay tuned!
