Mardi Gras 2022!
.
.
This Saturday 5 March triple j is proudly broadcasting the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras!
If you can’t make it along to this year’s parade, don’t worry, triple j can take you to the front row. It’s the LGBTQIA+ community’s night of nights, and we’ll be bringing it to you live from the Sydney Cricket Ground. Tune in from 7pm – 10pm via your radio, the triple j app or the triple j website.
Hosted by triple j’s Tyrone Pynor and Abby Butler, the broadcast will cover the floats, the fanfare and all the fun. Plus, triple j’s Latifa Tee will be jumping on the decks to bring you a killer playlist of party tunes, queer anthems, and hot tracks by up-and-coming artists. And there will be a bunch of LGBTQIA+ musicians and icons popping by to wish you a happy Mardi Gras.
All this week we’ll be celebrating Mardi Gras season across triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed.
On triple j, you can look forward to a week of queer playlists, interviews, mixes and live music. Sydney-based electronic pop artist Nick Ward will be in the Like A Version studio on Friday; The Hook Up will be hearing from people who came out during the pandemic; Cub Sport will be this week’s Live at the Wireless, and lots more.
triple j Unearthed will be curating a Pride Playlist featuring the best new Australian songs from emerging artists within the LGTBQIA+ community! Running for an hour, you’ll be able to hear it on demand via the triple j app, website or on air on both triple j and triple j Unearthed.
Double J is celebrating Mardi Gras with an incredible live set from the archive: The Village People, recorded at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia on May 25, 1980. Listen online, via your digital radio or smart TV at 6pm Tuesday 1 March and anytime afterwards on the triple j app.

Plus, Zan Rowe invites Double J audiences to a Mardi Gras Desko, a disco at your desk, playing your Mardi Gras anthems on Friday March 4 from 11am.

triple j – we love music
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
