Tropical Fu*k Storm continues its hot streak of brain-bending releases with Moonburn, a maxi-single cassette with cover art from Gregory Jacobsen, on Joyful Noise Recordings, and 7’ vinyl out via TFS Records on August 26th.
Today, they present one of its singles, ‘Ann’ (The Stooges Cover), bassist Fiona Kitschin stepping up to the microphone on a cover that swaps Ron Asheton’s scorching guitar part for a deranged sound collage of guitar freakouts, siren noises, and electronics. It’s an accompanying video directed by Sam Mapplebeck, which TFS’ Gareth Liddiard calls “A cheap shit DIY, high explosive puppeteering miniature concert shrinkage film clip.”
Side A offers the new song, ‘Moonburn’, a ballad in the classic TFS style written and sung by Gareth Liddiard.
Side B includes an acoustic take on the fan-favorite song ‘Aspirin (Slight Return)’ and a haunting cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Heaven’ (which you may recognise as the B Side of the Legal Ghost 7”).
Tropical Fuck Storm are back at the nation’s domestic check-in counters, arguing with the airlines about the amount of excess baggage they need to make your ears bleed, joined by Sydney two-piece noise band, Party Dozen and Melbourne Garage punk band Delivery.
