Brisbane artist Vancouver Sleep Clinic has unveiled another offering from his forthcoming album Fallen Paradise with latest release ‘The Flow’, a nod to 90’s lo-fi that builds into his signature sweeping choruses and explosions of sound.

Tim reflects on the track, “The Flow is a sonic and lyrical expression of giving up control, surrendering to the powers that be & riding out the ebbs & flows of this unpredictable, crazy life.” Across its ten tracks, Fallen Paradise weaves threads of expansive storytelling with sophisticated production and arrangements. The album is grounded in real life experience and an embrace of accessible nuance and intimacy when it comes to the overall song writing.

Album opener and recent release ‘Love You Like I Do’ sets the tone with its ambient electronic and vocal elements and has gained attention from triple j, The Music, Acid Stag and MTV.
Inspired by the concept of liminal space and a central idea of existing somewhere in the middle of two different worlds, the new album not only provides an insight into Bettison’s creative flow during lockdown but offers up a picture of him at his purest.
Conceptualising the material and laying down the foundations for the album in Australia before relocating to London at the beginning of 2021 to record, working alongside producer Charlie Perry (Jorja Smith, BTS), Bettison found himself in a creative space he’d never been in before. Since 2016’s Vapour EP release, Vancouver Sleep Clinic quickly became a festival and live favourite, ensuring that Bettison was kept consistently on the road or in the studio fleshing out an already promising catalogue of work.

“This is the first time I’ve really reached full peace with myself as an artist. I think that just being in that whirlwind of seven, eight years has just been relentless. Naturally, for anyone going from that period of being a teenager to their mid-20s, it’s a crazy period of change. I never gave myself that time to be at peace with who I was or with what I wanted to be doing. I think that’s the biggest thing with this album, I had the time to just reflect on everything, who I’d become.”
Fallen Paradise is authenticity in musical form: a perfect way for Bettison to move forward, further into this new decade of ideas and sounds.
“I began to trace back the roots of why I wanted to start making music. A lot of that got lost along the way, as it naturally does when things get crazy. It was a chance for me to step back and fully try and get a grasp on what it is and what the essential core of me doing this was; what made it so enjoyable and cathartic for me. Finding the source of that and using it in the next project; taking my time and making sure that the next project is exactly what I wanna do. It’s the most at peace I’ve been with something I’ve made and probably the most fun I’ve had. It just sounds like me.”

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
